I recently found a gem of a wicker chair on craigslist and do not regret it one bit.

Knock off shmock off. I usually search and search until I can find the cheapest of the real deal. It's not the end of the world to have fakes, It's just something rich people like to complain about.

I like this. I too live on the 4th floor, with 2 cats, with these same windows (should we start a club?) and almost didn't take the apt because of this. I ended up putting in adjustable screens, I have a frame that keeps them from popping out, and basically keep my windows shut when I'm not there. I live in SF so it's never hot enough to want to leave them open long, but it would be nice to always have fresh air flowing..

the contest is called "small cool." This place is way more appropriate than the 1,000 sqft places.

Yes, pz... my closet is the same exact way! Is this your old apt?!
WhitBoston- I've collected things (chairs) over the past 8 years. I do a lot of searching on craigslist and ebay, nothing is new. For example the eames rocker shell was bought on craigslist and the rocker base was bought on ebay. The chair all together ended up being ridiculously cheap.
And thank you all for the comments on my place being clean, I am very anal about "things just laying around." You can call it OCD if you want.

Thanks everyone! My budget IS very tight which makes this place one giant fun challenge!

Tande925- the shelving unit is ikea and i bought the legs at my local Ace Hardware. They were like $2 a piece and I just painted them to match.

Good to see no one hates my place yet!

Oh I see it, bodicegoddess! The curtain idea is still swirling around in my brain... I might just try that out since it seems like the easiest solution. Artwork also is good, however I am bad at decision making and choosing the perfect artwork can take a year.
I'm going to try to get to the one of the building reuse centers and see if I can find some materials to bring those art skills i've never had out.

Wow! I feel like I've been attacked by suggestions! Thank you all!
As far as rotating the bed and using the door as a headboard, I've thought of that but rotating the bed eats up space and just doesn't work.
I like the idea of the ikea panels, I'm definitely going to look into that. And also just painting that whole wall one solid color (if i am allowed to paint the door..) And yes, that pretty doorknob needs to come off.
Hopefully I'll have a ridiculously sweet update for this issue!
