I second the diapers and wipes. As a mom of 6 I can tell you these are always appreciated.

Receiving blankets, burp clothes, socks, and velcro swaddles are great.

I also love babylegs leg warmers. My youngest is 3 and I've used them since she was a newborn and still use them. Target carries them.

A good ear thermometer is a good idea too and becomes your best friend when the kids have the sniffles.

You can string breakfast cereal like Cheerios. Or make molded birdseed ornaments to hang from the tree.
One oz. of unflavored gelatin & 1 c. water in a sauce pan over low heat. Stir until the gelatin is dissolved then add 1 c. of seeds. Pack into cookie cutters (make sure to leave a hole from the string) and let cool. Remove from molds and hang from the tree.

Most food stamp families have children. Try feeding 2 or 3 kids on this budget without a car or a Whole Foods in sight. Its not as easy as it sounds, but it is possible.

I have 6 kidlets and while we don't get food stamps, my grocery budget isn't much more than this. While its great to be able to go to Whole Foods and buy beans and grains from the bulk bin, I don't always feel like cooking from complete scratch for my small army at the end of the day.

I think the project is a good idea, but I think its overlooking other problems SNAP recipients run into. Careful shopping and cooking from scratch help a great deal, but by no means is a cure all.

It works sort of.

The normal crayons leave very thin muted lines. It makes for a good activity for the kiddos on a rainy day, but for leaving notes that can be read from across the room maybe the dry erase crayons will leave more color.

I would buy them just for the fact that they won't dry out. We use white boards around the house all of the time. I'm forever buying markers because 1 of the six kids left caps off again.

Interesting. There's a story floating around about the same tech being used with preschoolers in CA. Instead of cards, they're getting jerseys with the chips in them. I haven't seen much positive feedback on that article. Wonder what the difference is.

We did this last weekend and it turned out pretty neat. I haven't tried to take it down yet so we'll see about the ease of clean up.

I found a pattern a while back and had some made on Etsy for me. These are awesome. I use them for everything and now I don't have to keep the ugly crates in the closet.

I have a string of them hanging from my headboard. They're the perfect brightness for reading and just nice overall.

I love Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc lights. I dont care if they're cheesy.
