Can people recommend a modern functional desk that isn't $2100?

I also believe that pesticides penetrate the rind into the fruit too. It's not just the surface that has trace amounts.

People throw out chard ribs? As a Chinese cook, I'm appalled!

Yikes. I get the idea but the table looks like the walls of a gas station restroom. And those chairs are horrific. Nice sunlight though.

I really dig it. It would be a lot of fun to see that walking into a hotel room. But I'm a bit nutty so... My house is super minimal and design-y so to stay in something completely different would be great. I rather stay here than have flowered bedding and shantung curtains. though I think the graffiti could've been a little better I guess.

There are some really neat pieces. That kitchen is so unique for a condo and I love the branches in the coffee table. What a great idea and so visually interesting. Overall, that's a dream pad for an apartment. So many beautiful surfaces and I like that the owner's stylishness is reflected. I have an issue with it being a little sparse in some areas but cluttered in other areas but it's nice that it looks lived in for once.

Totally pulled it off. I am so jealous of the beautiful office with the viewing couch facing the computer for those hilarious drunk Youtube nights. Great use of blacks.

I bought a used one off Craigslist. It was an Ikea birch table that the seller stained to a nice golden-y colour and then attached $5 iron pipes. The feet cost about 25 cents each at a hardware store. I paid $50 for it and everyone thinks it was this really expensive custom table. I've never told anyone to look under the table to see the Ikea sticker still there, stuck permanently due to the stain.

I like subway tile but I see it too much. I guess it is quite timeless but it also reminds me of a really old NYC apartment but it's that grungy BoHo reference that people dig I guess.

I only do subway tile in my home if it's straight stacked.

Daltile does a really nice modern convex subway tile. I did a dark grey for the entire shower and I'm using an Arctic white for the kitchen backsplash.

Gross. Just to let people know, reading on the toilet is not good for bowel movements. It actually slows you down and encourages you to push too hard.
If you are reading in the bathroom while taking a dump, you need to add more fibre to your diet.

A lot of boiled noodle soups, dumplings and fresh veggies for me. Going on Week 3. It will be done in 3 days. If I had to go a year like someone above, I think I'd kill myself.

I have been using a mini coil burner and I have reduced my eating to a few utensils and 2 plates. I wash them after every usage. It has actually inspired me to get rid and donate a bunch of stuff as I'm creating a modern sleek kitchen so this kinda minimalism, though has been stressful, has also been inspiring.

Ok, something contstructive:

Get rid of that awful orange sippy cup for a vase.
Paint the shelf another colour. Maybe even something bright.
Or paint it a nice slate grey to play with the grey in the mirror.
Get rid of the plant altogether. Those lucky "bamboo" things belong in a Chinatown mall.
Change the switch to a silver one.
Paint that wall a separate colour even.
Maybe get a different piece at the door like a nice table with a change bowl and a little framed photo. That shelf is hideous, I'll admit.

I honestly treated this as a "what's the difference" visual game they have in newspapers and tabloids.

I was scrolling up and down trying to figure out what was changed other than taking some stuff off the top of the shelf.

This was pretty hilarious.

@crayfish I know what you mean. I think we need balconies to make us feel better for living in these little compartmentalized downtown boxes.

The cost of real estate in Toronto is nothing compared to other major cities. I have many friends who live downtown in condos like this and pay relatively affordable rent. Downtown, a lake view, gym, pool, sauna, luxury fixtures... My friend does a penthouse loft-style condo unit for $2000 a month with a beautiful balcony view of the harbourfront. What is that in NYC? A first floor studio?

Comfy but super dull. Needs some edge or flavour maybe.

But ya, I could fall asleep there and read a book or something. But design-wise, it's a little haphazard considering the space is so big.

Wow, incredible lines and what a view. I would love to crawl into that bed and have a nice beautiful sleep. Beautiful minimal colour palette.

Also, those walls: are they sanded down? I would be afraid of dust and splinters. I'm sure they have been resolved but just curious as to how.

One criticism: these people don't like comfort. Haha.
