Clock movements in craft stores are usually expensive compared to the price of old clocks in thrift stores. Depending on the clock movement you find, you may need to secure it to the record with super glue. If the clock movement won't fit through the hole in the record, it's easy to enlarge the hole with an Xacto knife. We live in a converted house over smokers. We didn't notice anything when we first looked at the place (in the summer) but once we moved in we started to smell the smoke. Sometimes we don't smell anything and then some days I get home from work and the whole place reeks. I used to live in Europe and I didn't think smoking bothered me, but now that I'm constantly breathing it in from below it's setting off my allergies and making the whole apartment feel gross. We recently cleaned the rust off of a table base we found at a garage sale with a lemon, salt and steel wool. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it, but the rust just melted away when we rubbed it with a salty lemon cut in half. Can You Clean Rust on Metal with Vinegar? What about RATS?!? They make no noise and take up almost no space. Incredibly social and smart, you can teach a rat anything you can teach a dog or cat (that includes playing fetch and using a litter box!). Rats are the perfect pet for apartment dwellers as they are very clean and can easily move with you where ever you go. Don't let your thoughts of city rats scare you, fancy rats bred to be pets come in lots of beautiful colours and are friendly and cuddly pets. My first thought was "won't their pipes freeze?" but the article mentions electric pipe heaters. Is there nothing else that would break from the cold? I'm all for throwing on an extra sweater and keeping the thermostat down, but I know from experience that some electronics don't work outside in the winter and musical instruments don't take too well to outside concerts in the snow. We recaulked around the bathtub in our rental and it made a world of difference. No more disgusting mold looking at me while I shower! A bleach pen will also work wonders on ugly old grout. Is there anywhere else you could move the fridge to? It's such a shame that it blocks pantry doors. The fridge and stove in our apartment are similarily too large for the original layout. We've moved things around a bit and are hoping to come up with a way to help the part of the fridge that sticks out blend in more with the wall.
