I don't think Room & Board's been mentioned. They're all platforms, and the construction is solid.

lepidoptery is right. Restoration Hardware still has two "washes" of unpatterned linen bedding, and it's probably the least expensive source for 100% linen sheets outside a sale.

I'm personally against putting the TV over the mantle if you can help it. An actual corner stand would at least make it look like the TV takes up less space. I like IKEA's inexpensive LACK (not on the web site, so possibly being discontinued), but your other electronics might not fit in its shelf.

To clarify, sansevieria are part of a group of plants that adapted to absorb CO2 at night instead of during the day in order to preserve water. They don't release O2 during the night, though.

If people seriously worry about plant respiration in the bedroom, I wonder what they think of sharing the space with organisms that have much higher energy requirements!

@susanrohwer Table #7 is actually from Ikea. Maybe I live in a depressed area, but I've also seen some in vintage shops for similar prices, which is quite reasonable for solid wood furniture.

I understand why people dislike them, but house centipedes aren't bad to have around. I let them be, since they eat bugs that can actually hurt me like brown recluses and black widows.

I would ideally go lower than 650 square feet because I don't have that much stuff, but I haven't found anything that small in this area that wasn't either meant for college students or run by a slum lord.

I pay $750 for a newly-renovated one-bedroom in a kind-of sketchy neighborhood in St. Louis. My current income can support it, but I could have found something similar for less if I had more time.

Definitely don't want to go back to the $400 apartments I had when I was just starting out, though.

I was fine going to the meal halls for all my meals, since not doing so would have wasted the money spent on the mandatory meal plan. The only things I brought were towels, bedding, my computer, clothes, and a laundry bag. Something that would have been nice was some kind of padding for the hard, vinyl-covered mattress.

My couch (barely fit) and table (didn't fit) were both irreparably damaged in my last move because I used friends instead of hiring reputable movers. Lesson learned: use professionals if you have nice things.

At least they're white walls. All my leasing company's properties have walls painted in their own formulation of pinkish beige and charge $400 in damages per room that needs repainting when you move out.

The indoor-outdoor debate is an old one on the Internet. I've personally decided that it's irresponsible to let my cat roam unsupervised--not just for my cat's safety, but because of the damage cats can cause to wildlife and neighbors' property.
