Two of my favorite things -- chocolate and whiskey! Thanks for this recipe!

Right now my very favorite dessert is fresh strawberries , dipped -- or, well, smothered -- in honey-flavored Greek yogurt. Delicious!

You may think it's great to boss grown people around if it makes a party that much more exciting, but not everybody goes to dinner parties to meet new people. I would be miffed if I was excited about catching up with an old friend visiting from out of town, and got seated next to the boss's wife who thinks her children are fascinating dinner conversation to strangers. I think it's okay to suggest seating to people who are hesitating to sit, but to imply your dinner party was boring because of seating may be overlooking the basic personality deficiencies of your guests, and potentially yourself.

The hens in my CSA are really laying -- I am getting 24 eggs this week instead of the usual dozen so these egg ideas are great! I'm also using up spring greens and asparagus -- over quinoa or brown rice, with pasta, with chickpeas, in salads, etc. I also made a split pea soup with spring peas added when it was cold and rainy last week.

I have definitely noticed that one of my burners, while a small one in the back, is the hottest. I only use that one for boiling water for pasta!

I have gotten big bunches from my CSA and have been parboiling them so they don't dry out in the fridge. Lately I have really been liking them cold and tossed in spring greens salads with balsamic vinegar, but I am tempted by the white fish treatment described by elise_the_great!

My mom always used an electric mixer, and so did I until my boyfriend's mom gave me a potato masher. I never knew how much tastier mashed potatoes were mashed rather than whipped! I have the metal zigzag kind.

I like raisins by themselves as a snack, or in cold cereal with milk, but every other application of raisins is, in my opinion, ruining an otherwise tasty dish. Bread puddings, carrot cakes, cookies, and bagels are especially ruined by raisins baked in!! Chocolate covered raisins are a waste of chocolate. Another polarizing topic is nuts, and I personally feel like brownies, pumpkin bread, ice cream, etc. can only be improved by adding nuts.

Definitely, a wine tasting at a vineyard is the way to go to learn about different grapes and the wine produced from them.

I'm with rosebud, my rice cooker has an on switch, and that's it. It takes awhile to heat up too. I would like to try to make steel cut oats in it. What is the difference with the "Porridge" setting, does it cook longer, or at lower heat, or what?

Are these the mothy things that make a puff of dust when you kill them? Then yes, I've had these, and they came from a plastic bag of cornmeal mix.

You can also take iron supplements, but they can be hard on some digestive systems. I also like red meat but hardly ever cook it at home. I would recommend thekitchn's posts on broiling steak in the oven, the time I tried it I got excellent results. Good luck!

I agree about other peoples' dirty fridges. Spills, smears, and splatters gross me out. I don't have a regular schedule for cleaning my fridge but if something drips, I definitely clean it up right away!

My boyfriend made me Beef Wellington one time, and I was SO impressed, because it was delicious and he doesn't cook very often.

I second the stock pot. If you could afford only one pan, this would be it. You can cook ANYTHING in it and it can even double as a mixing bowl. You people who can't part with your cast iron skillets must not eat much soup.

VERY nice!! The fireplace looks great, I would just recommend moving the wicker trunk with the skin and flowers, from this angle it looks cluttered.

I made the chocolate chip cookie dough truffles and the molten lava cakes from the Pioneer Woman's site this month. The lava cakes were INCREDIBLE, the truffle recipe was good but could have easily been halved. Also made a ribeye steak per thekitchn's instructions for Valentine's Day and it came out great!

Right now I'm drinking two cups of Yogi Peach DeTox every day, less for the effects and more for the flavor, it's so spicy and delicious. I use each bag twice. I usually drink a cup of Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice with milk every night too, also spicy and delicious. As for loose tea right now I have Teavana's rooibos tropical, which I tihink I might enjoy more when the weather gets warmer as it is fruity and floral.

I have heard this argument before that one can't afford to shop anywhere but Wal-mart, and I think it's the biggest load of crap I've ever heard, akin to "I HAVE to eat fast food, I'm too busy to cook." Humans survived for thousands of years without Wal-marts, and you can too, if you try.

Wal-mart is the world's largest retailer, and also has a terrible reputation, and therefore is under close scrutiny. I was very interested in Greenpeace's report on sustainable fishing practices. Wal-mart stood fairly high in the rankings of stores that stock fish caught with sustainable practices -- and Greenpeace has created an entire SITE devoted to slamming Trader Joe's, which ranked poorly.

I bought a couch with the exact same print in 1997! I sold it on Craigslist for $80 which was about $75 more than it was worth. Still I think I'd rather have that than cheap microsuede, the brown is not good.
