omg, from your picture these appear to be the exact same cabinets I painted in my victorian house. They are not expensive and my designer told me not to hesitate. I painted a pale green to make my place look more vintage but at the same time more clean with marble cabinets and stainless and glass tile backsplash. In the end, it looked more modern and more vintage. goodluck! Apartment Therapy Boston | Paint These Cabinets for More Modern Look? Good Question |

Oh and yes, we put in glass in most of the top cabinets in a really cool pattern that was still obscuring. adds a lot of twinkle and happiness to a kitchen! Apartment Therapy New York | Color Advice for Traditional Kitchen? Good Questions |

I understand your apprehension of painting the cabinets as I had that same situation in my house but my designer assured me that rarely are they so precious to justify that decision. We have a victorian farmhouse and we painted the dark brand new cabinets a light green (kind of a serene Martha Stewart type color) and then changed the hardware to modern chrome handles and vintage glass knobs. It changed our lives, it is so beautiful. We also put in marble counters and a glass and stainless steel backsplash. Goodluck. Apartment Therapy New York | Color Advice for Traditional Kitchen? Really like it, all the better for not having any of the splashy midcentury. I'm so over seeing all the pricey items, it's just not interesting. You're place is perfect as is!!! Apartment Therapy Boston | Sarah Hillary's Maximalist Loft House Tour |

Kyle really saved my family room and alcove, turning them into rooms that I now love going in to. I especially appreciate her ability to group art on the wall in a really great way. I love that I am now able to showcase the things that I love in a way that actually works. Thanks Kyle! Apartment Therapy Boston | Cloud 9 Organize Redesign: Affordable Design Service |

I agree with the first posts, stain it the similar color, I think painting it will take away from the midcentury quality. I have a very similar side table that I love! Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Good Questions: What Should I Do With This Coffee Table? |

Hi, today I actually saw them in the book found style by amy butler (her earlier book) and they were being used as a pencil holder and they called it a flower frog. page 52 for those who want to get the book, it's great! Ditto on the Keep calm thread, some of us actually love it and bought it long before it was the rage because we liked and needed the message for our sanity. I'm sure I will acquire more in the future that others will enjoy as well and will become popular. I have to say it's sooo weird that folks keep harping on it. Thanks so much everyone, I appreciate it. It's interesting that many people had similar opinions. Although, we can see the idea behind many of the ideas, we feel we need a change and want a deeper color. Similar houses in town have gone with a greyish blue, we have not ruled that out yet. Intrigued by the lambert green that sunny blue mentioned, have not found it online yet. Apartment Therapy Boston | Good Questions: Help with Exterior Paint Color? |

It was too kitcheny in the red with yellow formica. I'm now considering a peacock blue with some glass knobs and adding a lamp in the room that picks up on that same color. Apartment Therapy Boston | Good Question: DIY This Cabinet from Art Deco to MCM? |

Thanks, it used to have a yellow formica top, yellow formica doors and was painted red. It was funky 50's. I do want to keep it kind of funky and I'm finding the mirrors to add a lot of interest and light to the room so am now wondering most about color and knobs. I don't mind if it's not too subdued or like "fine furniture", the rest of the room is now quite subdued and my house is very whimsical and fun. It makes a nice bar cabinet.
