I agree that it's the paint. I think the three tone paint is too distracting. I like the pale green color, and think the room would look a lot less "busy" if the whole room was painted that color.

I like your funky style, though, and I love all the color.

I love the kitchen floor!

We live in the south so we don't have snow, but mud, sand, and dirt. We are definitely "shoes off" people. Keeps the house much cleaner. We keep a big galvanized bucket at the door for shoes.

I don't feel it's appropriate to ask guests to remove their shoes, some people aren't comfortable with that. But I do love that some people feel comfortable enough in my home that they do it automatically, as if they were in their own home.

I would love to see more shared rooms, too. I am pregnant with #2 and they will have to share a nine by nine room. I know this presents MANY challenges, but I feel that when they're young, it's actually better for them to be together than apart.

What an amazing place. I love to see interiors that really reflect their inhabitants. Your place is not lacking in personality! And I love those ceilings.
