Not to mention that chicken absorbs a lot of water. What is reached at Le Cordon Bleu is to "flambé" the chicken with a blowtorch, then you just burn all feathers and impurities. Never wash a chicken have we been told...

or... the power of setting the white balance correct in your camera. One of the things that annoys me is that people don't spend the same time composing and post-processing the "before" photos. no wonder they look like crap. the "after" would also look crap if it weren't for the photoshoping.

+1 for IKEA's Omar shelving system.. just love the restaurant look of those ones. Although with your countertop maybe something black would work better? Expedit or wall shelves?

as many others said, i think it's really nice the way it is.... buuuut, i guess all of us want some change in a while. i would go out for the whole scandinavian look. white walls, white cabinets, keep the open shelving, leave the wood from the bed "frame" intact (it's gorgeous). I would throw in some industrial details, your bed frame already looks kind of industrial/lofty with all the stainless steel and wood: so maybe some industry lamps and tolix stools?

Well, I'm a programmer and an enthusiastic cook.
Since I work with technology the whole day... in the kitchen I prefer to keep it simple. The things that get me most excited are a good Staub cast-iron (or Le Creuset), an AllClad pan or a good cutting board (the space invaders one was nice).

You can always give him an edition of McGee's "On Food and Cooking". That's a bit more nerdy.

Actually, I believe it is a String telephone shelf. Can also this classified ads site in Sweden: www.blocket.se , search for "telefonhylla" as Myran pointed to, and mail the sellers explaining your situation. If they're kind, you might be lucky.

Well, the overflow drain on my bathroom sink smells really awful after some months. Tried vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice, dishwasher and nothing did it except for bleach. The bathroom smells like a swimming pool for one or two days, but then "no smell".

Ruhlman also recommends a bleaching solution in the kitchen, to disinfect cutting boards and worktops.
