i agree with modern on long island, fish (and birds and other living beings) are not ours to decorate with. it's wrong. so the tank is the worst offender.
which sort of flows into the rug idea - decorating with fur and leather are wrong too so i'm digging the potential of the human skin rug to make people think; there's no difference between her and a bear (or zebra or lion or....).

against my better judgment (i really don't like buying plastic anything), i bought space bags (a couple of different brands) to use for both short term and long term storage for a move across the country and they all either got rips in them or the seals broke and filled with air within a short amount of time.
i'd never ever buy them again.

well first of all, it's not green and even if it was - have you ever witnessed how fur is harvested?! animals are often skinned alive. and there is no such thing as a humane 'kill' anyway. i would never inflict that amount of pain on anyone. the fur council of canada disgusts me. http://www.furisdead.com/

^yeah but farming those sheep isn't very earth friendly (nor friendly to the sheep in most cases). ;)

i'm with everyone else on the neutral rug being my first choice, but i do love the yellow! i'm also wondering about the peculiar placement....i'd like to see the whole room all at once.

my earliest memory of rhubarb is as a kid eating it straight from the garden dipped in brown sugar (thanks, dad!). mmmm....
my mom loves stewed rhubarb (basically cut it up, stick it in a pot with just enough water to cover, simmer 'til it turns to mush - sweeten with a bit of sugar if desired).
my (and my sisters') favourite is strawberry rhubarb pie though!

yay! i've been looking for a way to corral all my hats (and still be able to see what i've got as opposed to just sticking them in a closet).

weird, i was just pondering plywood walls a few minutes ago after spying them here: http://www.remodelista.com/2008/12/30/architect-visit-ps-arkitektur-cabin/ (via http://www.doorsixteen.com/2009/01/05/another-door-sixteen/ )
i bought a house whose basement walls are covered in it (complete with useless plywood built-in benches which i've torn out). the varnished plywood was really dark (from age) and it was depressing going down there; i painted over the walls right quick with a good primer and lots of white paint. i can't imagine ever using the material for walls again. it's an interesting idea but it still looks ever so slightly unfinished to me. i'd like to see redbeard's whitewashed wall...i think it would look nice!

i have a certain fondness for plywood floors though. it's what my family's cottage was laid with (probably back in the 70s)!

Oh please, NOT heifer international!

First, the organization has an extremely high overhead (28 percent) compared to other similar organizations (around 11 percent overhead).

Second, the organization imposes Western values of animal farming and animal protein on non-Western cultures that cannot physically support those values. One cow requires three times as much food and water as one person. In addition to straining scarce resources and contributing to global poverty, animal farming degrades land, pollutes water with run-off manure, and contributes to global warming.

Finally, two-thirds of non-Caucasians cannot digest lactose compared to only five to 15 percent of Caucasians who cannot digest lactose.

I'm all for ending world hunger and i'd rather support charities who'll make a good difference. so i vote for donating the 1% to http://www.actionagainsthunger.org/

or http://www.plenty.org/index.html

or since i cant find either of those on the list, how about Trees For Life Inc. or Sustainable Harvest International...
