I recently eliminated Grout and Vancouver day (both cool greys) because Grout sounds ugly and Vancouver Day is just sad- especially here in Ontario where we have had a Vancouver winter for a summer!

I like the Labrador a lot, but would choose a similar shade with a name that actually embodies the color. Since when, unless you are looking at the poached salmon on the table, is anything in Labrador peachy?

I want a name that I think embodies the color, and a name that describes what I want to be surrounded by. Canvas, Fig, Raspberry jam, Chutney, Quartz, and Jade are all colors I have fallen for based on their name. Canvas and Quartz were both whites that seemed interesting based on their names.

Lying opposite ends is amazing for anyone who wears painful shoes, or stands all day. Guilt your partner into a foot massage with the sight of your blisters!

One decorative pillow- thats it. I have some extras for my couch stashed away, but those were originally used to make my dorm bed look like a couch and now are just too much.

It looks cool, but it strikes me as being more of a designer scratching post than anything else. All it is missing is the catnip. You can even hide toys!

I like it a lot.

Mainly because I live in a cave-like basement, and more light and space would be beautiful! The dance idea is also quite good... I dance, but I did not clue in to that one.

I think I might fashion something of those ikea stick on mirrors!

I think I'd get some interesting looks if I used my old absinthe or vodka bottles.
Love my Klean Kanteen, but I think these will stay indoors- so long as I don't have the urge to go scare some tourists.

I like the idea of covering the back cushions of a sofa in a print, yet leaving the seat and the rest in a solid. White or chocolate brown appeals to me as the solid, and patterns that have or look good with those colors.

I find that bohemian patterns in complementing colors or tones tend to almost always work. Bohemian and prints just go together, so anything with that vibe seems to work, and clashing seems intentional.

Paint your cabinet and old rusted sides of the medicine cabinet. The color makes a big difference, and makes it look like a new cabinet. Also, if you have linoleum or vinyl floor, it is easy and cheap to switch it out, or to layer on top with a different color or pattern.

Radio alarms make a good morning. I tend to sleep in too much sometimes, so I have a tibetan singing bowl alarm clock, my radio alarm in my kitchen, and my irritating cell phone alarm plugged in a short distance from the bed (so I have to walk to it if I want the beeping to stop- provided the singing bowl doesn't do it)
I also have a book, lights, water, 1 L of body lotion, notepad & pen, a small quartz/tourmaline point, and my boyfriend's small buddha statue on my night table. Some is hidden on a lower shelf, and other necessities in the drawer. Fresh flowers on occasion.

I must admit, that for weddings under 200, I don't see why not to do it yourself... This could be the fact that I have gotten accustomed to cooking portions for 50 , or just the fact that I have yet to taste good catering.

I would opt for a few good 1 pot specialties- not all frozen, but cooked say... a day or two in advance. Perhaps a good brightly colored pureed soup, a pasta or risotto (with fresh mushrooms), and a simple salad with mind blowing dressing. And good bread.

I would get my mom to bake a whole bunch of cheese cakes to be frozen ahead of time, and a blueberry brandy sauce.

I don't really see why not!

It could be fun to bring some Japanese garden elements indoors... Gold fish in an interesting bowl/aquarium, red lacquer or wood elements, soft greens, and rock accents.
I have no outdoor space myself, save the many parks that I spend my mornings in, so the outdoors in is always #1.

First photo is incredible. I think I just had a moment of (unrealistic) desire to go into carpentry. Unrealistic because I envision myself being like Joey from Friends handling a power saw.

a deep brown might be nice, or a dark clouds just before a downpour grey. I would add some artwork that is a little bit lighter to have things not too dark. A bit of sparkle might work to lighten as well such as Maryam's black Morrocan wedding blanket:

I'm awaiting my first purchase from Maryam- it won't be the last!

I'd like to see more of the poppy orange. Not too much though. Perhaps in a sheer, layered under a soft green to match your bedding, or a solid pale green linen curtain, with a large panel blocking (from the window ledge down) in a smoother textured (perhaps a raw silk) poppy. These would be best well ironed, and with a modern large grommet top.

I love the room by the way! Grey rocks my socks.

To anyone who thinks that Alice in Wonderland wasn't strange or creepy enough, remember Marilyn Manson's project about Lewis Carol (that seems to have never come out) with Lily Cole as Alice, and him as Carol. I get the sense that that version, Carol would have been a pedophile. I mean, Lily Cole- she looks like she is 8!

Look at the entire Alice in Wonderland Story... It is a drug trip. Mushrooms, smoking things, drinking things. I think the mushrooms explain it all.

I live in Ottawa, complete with -35 C winters, and a particularly irritating union for the bus drivers. This winter the bus drivers went on strike from Dec-Feb, the coldest and stormiest time. I was SO happy to live in the vicinity of 4 grocery stores in an under 30 minute walk in heavy snowfall. They are within a 20 minute walk when I am not knee deep in snow!
I also tend to eat a lot of raw foods in the summer, so I tend to make a few trips to the grocery store a week. I also considered Farmer's Market proximity when choosing a neighborhood- I love buying local organic produce! I considered this more than the grocery store actually, but quickly realized the plus of the closest grocery store being less than a block away.

Quiche or tarts. Crustless works well too!

Use a touch of a light tasting cheese such as a young gouda, gruyere, or a good brie (so as to make the eggs the focal point) and maybe some wild mushrooms and arugula.

For a bachelorette party the mold would have to change!

I wouldnt want anything too sugary or colored... I can imagine major messes. On the plus, I could totally see myself biking with one of these (probably in a white mini dress, hence the necessity of light colored juice)

smileygirl, try covering them with fabric or decorative paper? I've always gravitated towards the fabric covered boxes similar to these from Ikea, but the fabric covered are always at a more expensive home store and don't have the nicest price point. Buy a few yards of a nice raw linen and glue it onto the boxes!
