450 sq meters would be enormous. i'm pretty sure it is 450 sq feet. i live in a 323 sq foot 2 bedroom--also outside of the US--and i think this could be the size she is saying.

I hate to jump on the "this isn't small" bandwagon on AT. But reallly most of these kitchens hardly qualify as tiny. If tiny is in the title then the kitchens should be really small.
3 qualifies (although I've sadly had to live with smaller) and perhaps 10 too-- six I suspect is just a piece of kitchen since I can't see a refrigerator or a sink...

I clicked on this to get some kind of inspiration but although I love many of the kitchens few are small enough to offer me any concrete help.

Having entered a fair share of apartments in Manhattan ranging from 3000 sq feet to 300 feet and noticing their usually quite small kitchens I suspect pretty much anyone in NYC will not find these kitchens particularly small let alone tiny.

wingfeathers: cell phones and internet usage cause no real problem with navigation systems so you can relax, no one was taking your life into other people's hands.
My guess is that sauceykat thought the phone was off; not that s/he ignored the announcements.
American safety requirements haven't relaxed even as technology has changed that is why there are these inconsistencies.

Very nice! I especially like the red room; i like the furniture, the color, the placement... well everything. Kitchen brick painted light blue is gorgeous too.

I'm confused with the layout.. Is the one of the rooms in the photographs, one of the bedrooms? Obviously the gold colored room is the dining room, but the red and brown rooms is one the living room, one a study/ bedroom?

This is nice.

I always wonder how anyone manages to decorate an apartment in an affordable manner without recourse to even one ikea shelf. But the few denver entries this year prove it's possible.

I really like the general feel of the place; airy, colorful and spare without feeling like a catalog-- and i think that isn't always easy.

I like the letter-thing in the kitchen too..

But I do feel the green and turquoise are too coordinated I think the kitchen-living room is ok but I would draw the line at the same colors coming up in the bathroom and bedroom too. Maybe swap out the green or the turquoise for those two rooms and add a different color that is only in those spaces if you want it all to match?

As others have said this is silly-- how can we judge such an apartment with based on photos of only one room.

multiple photos of the bookcase, why?

also seems unlikely to be under 1000 square feet... perhaps 1000 sq meters? or some 3000 square feet?

I love it. love it. love it. It's the first time I can genuinely say this is not my style but I adore the place. Usually "it's not my style" means "I don't like it but I can see why people would." --at least it does for me. Of course the view doesn't hurt but I'd like this even if your windows looked out on brick walls.

Congratulations at creating a beautiful home.

As for space. The unfinished basement is a dilemma but I would tend to feel that it should not be included. If things are being stored in a basement they can usually be given up. Other than perhaps suitcases, people without basements just tend to do without things that those who have them get to keep.

Whether that is good or bad depends on your point of view, what people are keeping. I only had a basement for a year. It was nice but things didn't change much once I didn't have one again. (and I managed to fill a substantial portion of it.)

One suggestion: I freeze the soup in a glass container with a plastic lid. The lid is not leak proof but since the food is frozen it is less likely to leak in transit. This works if you just need to transport your meal to the office or one location. If you are on the go all day it's of limited use.

We use plastic bento boxes for lunch and make food that doesn't need to be reheated but are still searching for a truly leak proof glass or metal containers for soup.

You really should never heat anything in plastic or put hot food in it. Plastic does leach; microwave safe ONLY means it wont ruin the container not that it won't hurt you.

I only had cable one year. My partner at the time wanted it. Before then and since then I haven't ever had it. And since he digital tv thing started we don't have tv at all. It's reallly fine although there was an occasional program on PBS that i wish I could watch.

I really like it. Like the red kitchen a lot its the perfect red for those cabinets.

But I also don't understand what the space in last picture is used for why is it blocked off from the rest of the living space (with what look like ikea curtains)? Is there something about that space you don't like to see from the living area? or something that that space is used for that requires the curtains? i'm very curious.

the only thing I don't like is the material around the stools underneath the table in pic 4. Makes them look messy and frumpy. I'd lose the fabric altogether but if there is some purpose to it-- i think it would look better without the pleats--pulling the material taugt would give them a more streamlined look.
