I've always just cut off the ends and hoped the paper came off easily! For those stubborn ones, I use my knife to get under them. But I definitely have to try the whack technique!

I have always used them, just something that I am used to because that's what my parents always used in their coffee. So, I've never noticed an off-taste when it comes to coffee or other drinks. Plus, I know that I am saving on calories - I only need 2 teaspoons of sugar substitute versus maybe a couple tablespoons of real sugar. But when baking, I always use real sugar.

Installing a photoelectric smoke alarm made all the difference in my house. My old smoke alarm would go off if I was charring peppers under the broiler, and it got annoying really fast. Once I put the new smoke alarm in, it hasn't gone off since (except once when I had sticky buns or something totally go crazy in the oven!)

Just tried this last week. A local bar just got it on tap and we had to try. We both loved it!

It sounded good on paper, but it's really not that great. It's pretty bitter and dry and could also use some salt.

Very delicious! Even my boyfriend, who is kind of picky about vegetarian meals, said it was awesome! Perhaps pistachios or walnuts next time? Only used 1/2 of an onion too and it was plenty.

I thought you weren't supposed to add oil to the pasta water - it won't let the sauce stick once the pasta and sauce are tossed together.

I didn't used to salt my water, but after tasting the difference I do it every time now. I add it before it starts boiling though..

I love red onion raw and pretty much use yellow onions for all of my cooking. But if I only have red onion on hand and am making a recipe that calls for onions, I don't see any problems with subbing in the red.

When I bought my house it came with a refrigerator. The door opened towards the living room, so you'd have to walk out of the kitchen to get something out of the fridge - very inefficient. Me and my boyfriend switched the door and now it opens into the kitchen, the way it should. This is definitely a two person job - there is no way that it could be done by 1 person!

Growlers are a great idea! Especially when the beer is hard to find in other bars in the area. We'll buy/re-fill a couple occasionally from a local brewery (Great Basin Brewery in Reno).

Made this last night. It was so good, total comfort food (I slimmed it down a bit though) Cut everything in half since it's just the two of us. Still good for lunch the next day!
