oh,, I can't wait!!

We are happily diapering our 18 month old with BumGenius. My husband required A LOT of convincing, and it finally came down to the expense of probably 2 kids in cloth vs 2 kids in disposables. Even with the coin op machines we use (shared in basement with neighbors) it is MUCH cheaper.

The main drawback for us is laundry. We do a load probably every 5 days or so, and they need to be washed twice. We then line dry them in our apartment. It is time consuming. We also started with disposables until my son fit into the BGs. I dream of starting a newborn in cloth, but it would mean buying a whole set of tiny diapers which we would only use for a few months. (I do realize you can get these used though, and I probably will look for them when we have a second on the way.)

Another plug for cloth swim diapers: So easy! And unless you get a poop (which we haven't, so far) you can just wash the diaper in with your regular laundry. I totally recommend it even if you aren't doing CD regularly.

I totally agree re ceiling fans. In our apartment, where there is little air flow, they keep things under control until the AC has to go on. I have found it's really hard to find attractive ones, however. Esp ones with a light too.

Along with the blankets, I want to recommend the cozy sleep sacks. Wonderfully soft and breathable and the pirnts are gorgeous. The single layer ones are good for summer, but a little too delicate for the wear a baby gives them.

I've never cooked with pumpkin, other than the canned kind. Can you do a post on choosing pumpkins? All I know is that jack-o-lantern pumpkins are not the same as eating pumpkins.

After forgetting (and destroying) too many oxo kettles on the stove, we invested in an electric Utilitea pot. Love it! It's so much faster than a stove top kettle and it doesn't take up a burner!

any plans for a kitchn app?

We've used Fresh Direct a handful of times and liked it. I prefer the food coop, since it's cheaper and I generally like to select my groceries.

But now that we're expecting a baby, FD sounds a lot more appealing. I can put in orders in the middle of the night, I won't have to lug the baby AND groceries home on foot (over a mile) AND friends from out of town can send us food/groceries to help us get through the first few weeks.

The best soft pretzels are at the Reading Terminal. I can't remember the name of the booth, but they pull them right out of the oven, butter them and sell them hot! YUM!
