Where Can I Buy This Mirror? Good Questions

Hi I have a similar porcelain double sink and drainboards with the steel cabinetry. Bleach will definitely work well. Use about just half a cup of bleach in each sink, fill with hot water and a splash of dish washing detergent for a pleasant fragrance, let soak overnight. I do this about once a week. When I first moved into my apartment it was obvious the previous tenants weren't very concerned about cleanliness. I used a harsh scouring powder (something like Comet or ajax) and scrubbed both sinks and drainboards really well. Now I just use the drainboards to dry dishes. They're sparklingly clean. I don't recommend re-finishing. The new finish will begin to crack, turn yellow and peel, leaving you with a more unsightly look. Good luck.

How To Improve Vintage Cast-Iron/Porcelain Kitchen Sink?

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but some people are really harsh critics! I think it's sometimes nice to have a work in progress...it helps you to appreciate the big difference each new element makes. Let me kindly post a suggestion to you...Have you considered moving your grocery items to one of the bottom solid wood cabinets and storing only your nicest looking dishes and cookware behind the glass doors? I think that might give you a more pulled together look. I love the idea of the green glass handles...maybe matching green glass knobs for the top cabinets, too? I look forward to seeing what you choose to replace the faux brick. Pressed tin might be nice if you don't want to add color to your new scheme. Congrats on the new job. Nice work.

Oh, I agree with catherine...Mad Med would be a great inspiration and blue and white modern Scandinavian would be divine! We used to have a summer cottage that had knotty pine walls and I loved them! They were very popular in the early sixties. I think mid-century modern mixed with Scandinavian ...anything simple with splashes of great color would be superb. Also...I know you're just beginning, but how about changing that ceiling fan to a modern, sleek white one with sleek blades? Check the thrift stores and the trash! Good luck!

Your house is just lovely! Your daughter and JRTs are adorable! I am curious to know why you didn't try to lovingly restore the original kitchen and bathrooms? The old stove...and the subway tile on the walls...Oh my goodness! I would LOVE to have those! The old bathroom had much potential, too, I believe. Overall, very well done!
