Spitting anything onto the floor would be considered disgusting and impolite by Koreans (and probably nearly everyone else). And the slurping thing is not a "must"--it's just more acceptable to slurp noodles in some cultures than others. That doesn't mean you're being impolite if you eat your ramen quietly. I agree with the other posters above: you don't have to worry about tracking any crud from the street into your nice clean house if you take your shoes off at the front door (or switch your outdoor shoes for indoor shoes). Common sense, people! Tip: Fireplace Ashes on the Sidewalk |

Why are people obsessing about the television and wood trim? The latter was not particularly beautiful. As for the former, it's clear from the layout of the living room that the television isn't the centerpiece of the whole room and it's very likely the homeowners don't even watch it that often. I'd paint the mirror frame black and then hang it above the mantel. I'd get rid of all the small things on the mantel, which are not the right scale. Instead, I'd add a tall, dramatic plant like an orchid or something similarly shapely. Place it off to one side and avoid the temptation to "balance" it with something similarly-sized on the other side of the mantel. Instead, add a vase or something that's a different shape and size next to the plant. Perhaps add a family photograph is an interesting frame. Finally, I'd put large white pillar candles inside the fireplace and get rid of the white thing, which is visually busy. Suggestions For Sprucing Up Mantel? Good Question |

Can you paint? I'd paint the back wall a bold color and hang a large piece of art or a mirror there. Then I'd switch out the light fixture with something larger, more modern, and hung lower down (maybe an over-sized drum pendant). I'd move the easel elsewhere and rotate the table and chairs as adamwa suggested. A small rug might be a nice touch too. Ideas for Decorating the Kitchen Nook? Good Questions |

I suggest Marimekko, maybe the Kaivo pattern. You want something with a big pattern. It looks less busy than a small pattern but still gives a lot of visual impact. Suggestions for Colorfully Patterned Duvet? Good Questions |

Oh please, a mostly white and ivory "winter wonderland" mash-up of Victorian shabby-chic and country cute is not at all original or worth emulating. This honestly looks like a craft store vomited all over it. Such a 'tablescape' is the essence of trying too hard to be stylish, with the result that form wins over function and consumerist excess overwhelms good taste. TL;DR version: This is tacky.
