mismatched cabinets with all the different cabinets in one place at the end is going to look exactly like you just stuck a bunch of mismatched cabinets on your existing kitchen.You'll hate it once you've spent the money on it.

photo shop detectives; in the photos at the REAL SIMPLE link provided by benjisaa2, the woman appears in the thumbnail for the "before" photo but not in the large version of the "before" image.....she then reappears in the "after" photo....check it out;

while I agree it's easier to clean up when everything has a place, you do actually have to make the effort to put things in the places where they're supposed to go. The debris on the floor at the front of the photo looks like trash that nobody has bothered to put in the trash bin. Having a perpetually cluttered studio myself, I'm fully aware that having adequate storage doesn't mean the occupant will actually put things away.

I don't mind AT reposting things like this but I don't think they should be presented as though it's a new post instead of one that's being recycled

I love it when the "after" photo looks so much better than the "before" photo! well done!

OMG! the clutter in that kitchen!

Beyond that, yes, if you don't like using your breakfast bar to eat and you're short of storage space, it's not a bad idea.

But de-cluttering the kitchen would also create a lot of usable space too!

I don't think the "fake" look is a result of the camera/lens but probably photographing with artificial lighting that's too even and/or heavy handed shadow/highlight adjustment in photoshop.....take all the shadows out of a photo and it's not going to look natural
