I used a similar idea to create a sort of guest book for my house. I collect rocks from Lake Michigan (I live in Chicago) and keep them around for when friends visit. When someone comes over we decorate the rocks with paint or sharpies. I then put my favorite "guest rocks" in a fun bowl. I always enjoy looking at the rocks and remembering good times with friends.
