I thought you were going to say to just give the roll of tape to your kid, and let them have at it. My two-year-old can stay entertained with a roll of tape for hours!

We painted our fridge with chalkboard paint and we love it! Our fridge looked pretty crappy before, so we decided to paint it as we were planning on getting a new one eventually anyway, but we will probably paint all our future fridges in chalkboard paint from here on out because it's just so awesome!

I tend to agree with kickette. Although super-cute, it would be nice to see some "real" children's rooms in action. Try as I might, I cannot convince my 2-year-old to keep her toys on the shelf or her books put back the right way, and her room looking the way I wish it did all the time. I am a huge fan of beauty and good design, but it's just that much better when the element of reality is added in.

i agree with adamaxbey! so inspiring! we have wanted our 24-month-old and 7-month old (girl & boy) to share a room from the get-go but still have yet to incorporate it as my 2-yr-old loves to climb into the baby's crib. anybody have safety issues with toddlers and babies sharing a bedroom?

We keep almost all of our kids toys in the living room. I'd rather have them mostly in their rooms, or in the play room, but the play room is upstairs on the third level of the house, and since the kids are too little to play unsupervised for very long, we're almost never up there.

I tried settting up my almost two year old's room with all her favorite toys and books, and proceeded in congratulating myself on such aesthetic prowess and creativity. Three minutes after i let my daughter back into her room to admire and quietly play with one toy at a time, i came back after checking on the baby to find the place completely ransacked. Ah, two-year-olds. At least she loved it. :) We now keep a FEW books, her stuffed animals, her doll and doll bed, and usually rotate one other toy in her room (right now it's her jewelry box). Otherwise, I have found, that she dumps out everything and then doesn't want to play with any of it. When the house is a wreck, she is miserable. The more organized and orderly everything is, the happier and more creative and productive she is. And the more supervision she has at this point in time, the more of my sanity is preserved, so when i look at it that way, its definitely a win-win for toys in the living room. :)

its kind of an interesting idea and all, but at the same time it makes me think of hanging a flag upside down or something.... i guess it just seems rather anti-christmas to me...

I would LOVE to have Thanksgiving or Christmas at my house, but we live in Kansas City and all of our family is either in Minneapolis or Charlotte. So we do a LOT of traveling around the holidays, and with two under two, its becoming a bit stressful. I haven't come up with a way to get our families to all come to us yet, but i will let you know when i figure it out, lol.

My mom did this too! We had a big wrap-around porch growing up, with probably 15 rocking chairs painted in primary colors (including an orange porch swing)! How fun. :)

We love our gulliver crib! We actually ended up taking back the first crib we bought, a much bigger, taller crib, and getting this one because i am 5'0" and 7 months pregnant and placing my 15-month-old daughter in the crib as well as getting her out was NOT working with the other crib. The Gulliver crib as been awesome for me being as short as i am because i can lean all the way over to place her in the crib even when she is already sleeping, whereas this was definitely not possible with any other higher cribs.

you're so brave! i always want to paint things white, but am afraid of ruining the hardwood. i think your table is super cute and that its much better to paint something and "ruin" the hardwood if it makes you love the piece that much more. :)
