No Eames Rocker? Those are the only rockers that have ever made me drool, and they come in so many fun colors.

Am I the only one who things this could easily be replicated with blue painters tape? That's all I can think of when I look at it... about the same color, size and everything.

Would be awesome in the right room, not my thing though.

All I have to say is I am an Amanda born in 88. There were many Amanda's in my classes and groups of friends growing up, and nobody felt mixed up or frustrated.

Don't be too weird! Nobody wants to be named after a freaking brick. What's next? Dirt?

And PLEASE parents, do NOT take a normal name, and spell it weird. Or anything not easy to read. You're just setting your child up for frustration in the future when they are *constantly* correcting people for mispronouncing their name. I grew up with a "Daniela" friend, Pretty name (Duh-knee-la) but everyone called her "Danielle-a" which is obviously not the same thing. Who cares about spelling anyway?

Also, I think the backsplash can't possibly look "too busy" with counter tops as bold and wonderful as those. Don't go too neutral! Be bold!

Am I the only one who loves the current backsplash? I mean I can't see it in detail, but It appears perfect. The cabinets are great as gray goes wonderful with that orange color. There are a lot of black appliances or "kitchen top" gadgets that would look great on that counter and pop well with the darker wall. With an orange counter, you wouldn't want an orange kitchen aid mixer (or appliance of the type) as it would completely blend in. Sleek stainless steel and black counter top items would look great and pop in front of the current backsplash. Blue wouldn't work directly next to the orange, as it compete for the attention in the room. If you MUST switch the backsplash, I would do different shades of gray with pops of orange. I prefer the tiny tiled look though for this type of modern space. I feel subway tiles work better in more "homey-rustic" kitchens, but that's just me.

I'm sorry, while I think the end result is beautiful, I just think renovations like this are stupid. Who buys a house with so much character, and rips everything out? I'll admit, the floors were pretty gross, as with some other things such as maybe the light fixtures, but there are a lot of people would have loved that archway and all of the beautiful brick. If you're going to gut all of the unique features of a house and update it super sterile and modern, why not just buy a brand new house? Or a BORING outdated house?

If you don't like brick, don't buy a brick house. Simple as that in my opinion.

What a beautiful office, great job! Does it feel narrow though? I do agree that the door could come off and give a little bit more space, and it's not like it isn't attractive enough to show off.

It's funny how people who are hurt build walls and argue with the norm to protect themselves, I am one who does this often and while I cannot see the benefit, it's still hard to avoid doing. It's easier to push people away from the beginning, than to let them in close to your heart and hurt you. Doing so though, you virtually never find life long companions.

This is hardly a gut remodel, any other person would have ripped out the wood panelling and painted the ceiling some dumbass color. They left the walls, they left the ceilings, the ripped out the beat up cabinets, opened up the space, added awesome light fixtures, the dining table may or may not be vintage but definitely looks MCM... Beautiful reno. One of the first I've seen in a while that I was actually impressed with. Happy to see some people leave some character in the space.

It's also about control, not saying YOU overeat, but a lot of people are so used to giant portions and actually eat way more than is necessary. Most of those lunches would fill me up for lunch personally, but I agree that doesn't necessarily include snacks for the rest of the day. Lunch is also my least favorite and most skipped meal, so that's just me.

Is this new that facebook is linked to your pinterest account? Because I signed up months ago with my own pinterest account, not facebook. I recently noticed it was all over facebook with the new timeline issues... it got annoying and I didn't really use my facebook anyway, so I deleted my facebook. My pinterest is still active. I didn't even use the same email address. I did hear some complaints about people wanting a pinterest but weren't able to sign up because they didn't have a facebook or twitter account. Seems a bit silly that it needs to be attached considering everything you pin shows up on the newsfeed anyway, unnecessary that it also shows up on your facebook.

And don't get me wrong, It's not like I don't buy anything new or from ikea or something like that, but if you want high design like this, you might as well check around the vintage stuff a while before you just impulse buy the first thing you see online.

I totally agree that knock off furniture is a complete joke... It isn't necessarily that if you can't afford brand new designer name furniture you aren't entitled to have it, but have you ever heard of vintage?

I have two vintage eames chairs: a purple management chair from 1989 and a purple vinyl/black fiberglass shell chair from 1979, both found on Craigslist... They were a hell of a lot cheaper than ones brand new so we didn't break the bank. Also when you are buying knock offs, they are likely made in awful developing countries with shitty labor practices, so there is also the benefit to buying vintage or real designer. The price doesn't always reflect the design alone, usually the materials used and labor practices. I'd rather support something a decent paid American made, than one someone in a foreign country made making $1 or less an hour.

There is a surplus of cheap landfill being made when there are beautiful and affordable gems out there just waiting to be found and purchased. Likely you will find much more unique pieces, which says more about a person's taste than "I bought this on Overstock.com" In my opinion.

Thank you Apartment Therapy for this wonderful and useful tip! I'm sure a few single dryer sheets would go a long way, I think we have much worse things to worry about like people not recycling their plastic food containers and washing other hazardous chemicals down the drain, than just using dryer sheets around the house.

I hate Before & Afters when the "Before" is basically cluttered with remodeling equipment and crap like animals and food bowls, this wouldn't have looked that awful if the before wouldn't have been dirty. I think it would have been just fine to just paint the walls a lighter color and leave the stairs the way they are. Does seem like a LOT of work.

Ew I agree, don't like the after. Before was boring, definitely, but still classic. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-bold print on a replica eames lounge, but I don't think the high contrast black and white translates well on the chair, I also think it looks like an optical illusion. I do think that subtle prints look best on chairs that large with tufts. Even a brown and black, or gray and black houndstooth would have looked less intense. Or maybe a smaller houndstooth. Just my opinion.

I would have gone for a grayish wall with all of the white frames, accents and crib... or since you were looking for white walls, I would have gone for the decor to not also be white. Such a cute room with awesome style, but I feel like all of the cute things (white crib, white Eames rocker, frames, etc) all kind of blend in.

While I think the blue border is awesome in pictures, and it's such a great color... I just think I would feel like a confused giant in that room, Alice in Wonderland style, and I'm only 5'0"... Maybe if it was opposite, a taller border, it would make me feel small and the room bigger.
