there are at least 80 or so felt desserts in this play place...seems like a bit of overkill...what does one do with all that after the kids grow tired of playing?

@Jennie, we had a split dachshund print in our nursery (http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/my-room-josephzagreb-croatia-128901) and we got ours from Etsy seller Oliver Blu Design - http://www.etsy.com/listing/47607261/dachshund-wall-hanging-two-8x10-panels. We've ordered a few dachshund themed things from her (cards, etc.) and she's been a great seller. Highly recommend.

From a child of a teacher that grew up seeing her haul of gifts each year

--- we loved getting baked goods from my mom's students and their families. As long as the teacher isn't some sort of germ-a-phobe I'd say most teacher's and their families enjoy these treats. And it's nice when they are homemade--heartfelt. Sure there are some misses, but you can just toss those

--yes, obviously giftcards are always a nice gesture. I don't think anyone would say no to that

--agreed, teachers don't need more "stuff" (mugs, shirts, etc.) but my Mom LOVED anything her students made her...especially those she knew couldn't afford much. If it was from the heart, she loved it even if some of it was a little ummm unique.

Done well, done right...yes, there is no comparison between store bought and homemade eggnog. And since it's truly something you will only do once a year, yes, it's worth the effort. I would say otherwise if it's something you were making all the time.

love Deb and her site (especially love that she doesn't promote anything on it or do free giveaways.. it's just her, her family, and her food). Thanks so much for the tour - Love that she does it all with so little.

would also add that some young kids put up a fuss about food served from their own parents...eat like champs at daycare/school or visiting others, but put the breaks on at home...maybe your sister has tried givinging them the long end of the stick and they dont take it...sometimes it's not about food, but power.

You can do all you want to prevent food, juice, shoes, etc. on the couch but you know what you can't stop? Pee. If you are potty training a child you should expect at least once and probably many more times that your kid will Pee on your couch. He/she will be absorbed in a book/tv/playing etc. and then there will be a wet spot. Before you buy something ask yourself "if there was pee on this, how would i clean it?"

In addition our son has dropped food and drink, and colored on our couch cushions when we weren't looking. We are lucky that our couch hides a lot of wear and the covers can actually be washed but it is still looking a little shabby.

If I had to do it again I'd probably go leather.

The crust is the best part of the bread. It wasn't a chore to eat it then and it's not a chore to eat it now. Crustless bread is a slippery slope to other food pickyness habits.

I'm not big on bread but I have to say I'm leaning more towards homemade or artisnal bakery. Living in Europe I was annoyed b/c the bread never lasted more than a day or two before hardening - great that it was so fresh, but we often wasted a lot of bread and it was a pain to shop for so frequently. We often froze it, but the texture was never quite right when we unfroze. But here in the U.S. it really freaks me out now how long American bread lasts. It is seriously frankenstein bread. No bread should last a month without molding or turning hard yet somehow it does. I'm leaning towards going the bakery way again cause I'm just not comfortable with the amount of preservatives that must be in grocery store bread.

As a previous commenter posted, they have a general pricing list on their website. Look around.

Positive - We got two living room chairs from there that fit perfectly in our tiny tiny living room space. People are amazed at how well everything looks and functions. The prices were consistent (if slightly cheaper) then Crate and Barrel. Ordering process was easy and smooth.

Two negatives - 1) they have more to look at on website then in their store, which, while large, can't accommodate everything they sell since they order from a number of manufacturers. I prefer to be able to touch/see what I buy.

2) We weren't immediately helped when we went in the store. Nor even acknowledged. They were helping other customers but we waited around a while waiting for someone to say they'd be with us in a moment. That never happened. Maybe we didn't look like we were going to be buying (we were)...maybe we were the couple that brings their 2 yr old furniture shopping...either way we gave up that day exasperated. Weeks later we were walking by and went in again and were helped.

sorry but i don't consider pans a "gadget" that's equipment. I would have liked to see more recommendations on good/useful gadgets. People play down gadgets but I have a few that I actually use and love. As the previous person wrote...I LOVE my cherry pitter. I use it for cherries and olives. Great if you need a bunch for something.

all well and good until you live in a place with extreme heat/humidity...i.e. the South. The sort of place where old people die in the summer cause it's too hot. A place where opening the window just means more hot sweaty air instead of "fresh breezes." Being overheated and sweaty means bad sleep and lethargy b/c doing any sort of activity is exhausting. Could this be alleviated with better home design? No idea...all I know is it's unbearable otherwise.

Nothing in that first photo looks outdated or in need of updating or like it is from the eighties. The after is gorgeous obviously and no date something most would prefer but writing the post as if the "before" was an eyesore screaming for an update I feel is a little disingenerous.

i love the tiered shape of the dresser and have been looking for similar styles from different companies for a while now. Does anyone know if that style has a particular name besides tiered...I don't get a ton of results when I use that as a search term. Also wonder a bed style that would best compliment it as well.
