I love that fabric, but I probably would have kept the wood. Wood stays in style, and it's decent looking on those chairs. Who knows how long gray will be in?

Why not glass jars instead of cans? Because light can often affect the taste of the contents.

Ugh, we had pantry moths for a YEAR before we finally got rid of them. What finally worked? We scoured the old place and moved. Even then some came with us that were living inside of the couch. The only thing that killed them was a combination of hormone based traps, killing them on sight and cornmeal spiked with boric acid.

I love, (Love!) our kuhn rikon opener. It opens the cans in such a way that you can put the lids back on! It also takes much less force to open the can, which is important for us folks without the wrist strength for traditional openers.

My parents have that very same red opener, but it stopped opening at one point. I guess they have a life span of 10 years, which is plenty.

Connect to your router with an ethernet cable, (not strictly necessary, but more secure) and enter 198.168.1.1 in your browser to get to your router's settings. Should work for most routers.

Just don't mess with settings without your manual unless you know what you're doing!

I had the same problem with my Le Creuset stock pot! I would not recommend it. The glaze on the bottom inside and out cracked after just a month of use, and no heavy use, just boiling things.

I wouldn't drill through those frames if you can possibly avoid it! It would possibly ruin the seal and your heating costs would go up. A hammer drill is a pretty violent thing.

You can rent them though, at many hardware stores.

I'd just return the roller blinds and hang some drapes/blinds from the wall or ceiling.

I feel like the Ikea counter depth Whirlpool model we have is very quiet, but it's really the first modern fridge I've owned, so to you it might be loud.
Why not just walk around the appliance showrooms turning the fridges on to see how loud they are? Some of the ones near me keep them plugged in but off, so the light still goes on when you open them.

If you avoid slicing the root end until the very end it is much easier to slice the onion as the 'wedges' will stay together until you cut the roots off. It makes things faster and reduces the likelihood of cutting yourself if the onion slips.

You could also buy new plates (Ikea has them cheap cheap) and avoid washing them the first go-round, or at least get away with rinsing and so save water and heat. Then you could sell them all as a batch online. Lather rinse repeat, and they'll all match. My friend actually made money doing that. She sent batches of dishes home with pre-designated guests who put them through their dishwashers and returned them as a wedding gift.

We have an enameled metal drying rack from ikea that we used in our 1 bedroom apartment for years. It holds at least a full load of wash, and folds completely flat to hid behind a bookshelf or whatnot.

Bead for life teaches women in Uganda how to make beautiful jewelry with recycled paper. Women around the world host bead parties that friends and family attend. The money they raise goes right back to the beaders and their families. I've got several necklaces, and a friend has gone to Africa to visit their village. The goal is to have each woman own her own business or otherwise be self sufficient in 18 months. They provide entrepreneurial training and loans. It's a truly awesome program.

It's actually really important to get food into the fridge as quickly as you can. This is something we practice in the commercial kitchen. Most modern fridges can handle a fair amount of warm food.
It's OK to let something cool down from boiling first (it won't reach a dangerous temperature for a pretty good amount of time). But below 140, get it into the fridge fast.

We have a folding coated metal ikea drying rack, and the socktopus to go with it. It holds a good load and a half of laundry. When we move from our apartment to the house, we plan to install a clothesline for drying sheets and such.
