I think you should try something different than painting only three walls peacock. I think you should paint only the wall behind the bed peacock and then paint the other walls a light creamy yellow like your headboard stencil work. This would work best if you intend to have a full wall used for the bed alone rather than a door way or a say a dresser next to it. It's just an idea. Paint the Bed or Paint the Room? I would go with a bar area/breakfast or coffee nook. A small cafe table would fit there and a turned around bookcase or an actual cabinet for liquor or storage provided it was tall not long. It would make a great hub for parties b/c you could set out drinks and appetizers before you move into the dining room and so guests are close to your kitchen but not in it b/c it looks smaller. If its just for you then you have a nice little area off the kitchen to sit and chill. Apartment Therapy New York | Ideas for Awkward "Stage" Area? Good Questions |

I buy 10 packs of wine glasses from Kmart and no one can tell the difference, especially when we use nice china. If you are going to do something, I say try to replace the glass on replacements.com or just send a nice gift card. People think gift cards are awkard but if you are a person that actually uses them it's great for dinner out or a special pick me up. I do think cash is an envelope is tacky. I don't like having company for a very long time but we do tend to host lots of guests. We just came off a streak of literally four weekends in a row. I am so glad it's over! Any more than 3/4 days and I get tired of sharing our single bathroom. Guests have their own bedroom if its just one or a couple but more than that and we end up having them in our living room. I do think they should keep the space they occupy clean if its a public room and get up before it's ridiculously late. We live in New Orleans so late night returns are common so we give guests a key. I get super peeved when people call and assume they can just come to visit and unfortunately my husband always says yes. The holidays are usually the worst for us b/c my MIL comes to stay with her 2 dogs and my SIL. We usually have guests that come in a day after them so I have to clean up an entire dog ridden house in a day. These dogs are a mess too b/c they are so big. She leaves half chewed dog toys around and doesn't clean their poop from my yard. It makes it hard to want to have the visit, but what you going to do. This will probably scare people who don't like out of town guests. We have a double bed in our guest room that most people get to use b/c it's comfy and separate with a dresser and night stand and even space in the closet for out of towners. THEN, we have a twin futon in our living room and a sofa that people can sleep on and THEN, we have a sectional with a queen bed and a chaise. We also have space in the office for a twin size air mattress. All in total, we can sleep 8 extra guests in our house or 6 people comfortably. This ridiculous amount of guest quarters has resulted from constant out of town guests and way too many "crazy" parties on New Years. Keep in mind we only have one bathroom so no one stays too long! :) Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Survey: Where Do Your Guests Sleep? |

After May, it's too hot to sleep outdoors in southern Louisiana. It's like 105 outside right now and it won't cool down until well after 10pm and by cool down I mean go down to the 80s. Other than that, if it's not the summer here, mid-May to mid-September, I nap in my hammock in the backyard. Apartment Therapy New York | Survey: Do You Sleep Outside In The Summer? |

Why don't you do both and use a colored stain. I love the look of a green or blue stained piece of furniture indoors. You could even do different shades mixed to customize it to your green room. It can be subtle or it can pop depending on how much stain you use. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Good Questions: Color Suggestions for Dresser Redo |

Less is more. Two full size pillows on each side of our queen size bed works great. Our room is too small to be having extra pillows all over the room at night. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | AT On... Pillows on the Bed How Many are Too Many? |

I also had this problem and then the paint peeled again so I had to start from scratch. I would recommend talking with painters and really making sure you use the right type of primer. I also recommend not using the shower in the bathroom until you are completely done repainting because it can interfere with everything drying. I think you have an easier solution for curtaining those windows that you realize. I live in a post world war II house that also has picture molding and I have been thinking about making curtains that have pockets at the top to hook onto picture hangers. If you buy an inexpensive fabric and then several picture holders you can either use tab top curtains with a decorative trim or rope running through them or make pockets at the top and do the same. If you can't sew, you just need a fabric that is sheer but not so sheer you can't use iron tape with it. Cottons are great for this.
