Charley Harper's giant lady bug makes the backyard. I couldn't imagine Charley Harper's house not having something large and graphic.

this is a great idea for temporary refugee housing since the shipping pallet is an international mainstay.

we have seen pretty much everything before, so that wouldn't be a relevant criticism.

As much as I am an advocate for CFLs, these fixtures would look positively horrid with fluorescent bulbs. The bulky transformer and twirled bulb would look incredibly awkward.

I freaked out when I heard that the government had banned all incandescent lights as of 2014. I was worried what I would put in my sputnik chandelier at home, but then it was revealed that they were only banning 40 watt - 100 watt. Dodged a bullet

wow! So those of us in the mid-west won't/can't do as a good a job as those on the west coast?

pretty demeaning commentary.

there are a hell of lot of great people here in the central states that do work just as good as those on the coasts.

the pictures shown seem to be images of some great mid-century modern architecture that would not at all be served well by painting them all those visually disturbing colors. Please think about complementing the simplicity of the architecture would subdued thoughtful simplicity in the choice of materials, design moves, landscaping, plantings etc.

in architecture we would refer to that as a bulkhead as well...looks great, not my choice of color but the idea is well represented

If the fixture is a lightolier lamp, then it would have been designed by Gino Sarfatti. Sarfatti was an Italian designer who started the Arteluce lighting company and latter in the 70's sold that company to Flos. Sarfatti is also responsible for quite a bit of other beautiful lighting.

here is a grainy bad pic of the one in my living room:
