I use 3 bowls, but not quite so neurotic. I separate the white into one bowl and have 2 others for the separate parts. Trying to pull the yolk out of a bowl has always netted me broken yolks and a dish of scrambled eggs for dinner.

That happens to my wife, but that's because she adds the eggs to early to the pan. She puts the eggs in, then put it on the flame. I always let the pan heat first and don't have that issue at all.

I just bought my wife this book : Parent Need to Eat Too and she seems to love it. I know there are several meals in here that are "one-handed" for when you can't put a baby down, or in a rush to get somewhere. The recipes seem to be good for a work lunch as well. I haven't been able to try this, but all of the "nap-friendly" and "one-handed" meals look very quick and easy to make and ready to freeze or carry with you for lunch, even if you're not a parent.

I think it would help to know what kind of clients we're suggesting for. If it's all IT people, I'd do something that goes well with coffee (something sweeter almost reminiscent of donuts or monkey bread). If it's more business type clientele I'd go with more savory (cheesy breads, granola bars, etc.)

I've been searching for something similar, but I don't think you will find a free variant. The best I've seen is Grocery King on Android. I don't have a data plan, so it's difficult to know how this will operate on my tablet, but the reviews seem to be good. I've tried many apps and have been disappointed because they don't let me store prices per store.

I'm very intriqued by these new offerings from Bodum. We have a red Kitchenaid and wouldn't have a functioning kitchen without something similar. We got the stand mixer as a wedding gift... well, it ended up as one when we took some of the duplicates back and we had enough at one store. I don't see us replacing the KitchenAid anytime soon, but if the Bodum is lighter, it might have been in the running. One bad thing about the KitchenAid is the weight. My wife can't easily pick it up and so it has a permanent placement on our counters. The Bodum comes in at 10lbs, where the KitchenAid is 22lbs. Hopefully the Bodum can give Kitchenaid a good run and bring the prices down for everyone.

We use a bamboo salt box that we got from Sur La Table. It has done a great job over the past 2-3 years and only set us back $5 (it was on clearance then).

I'd like to know if they hold up during real cooking, and how to clean them properly. That sliding mechanism seems to be a wonderful place for gunk to hide.

I use a process that I learned while working as a server at Cracker Barrel. Add all of your powder to the bottom of your mug. Add just enough hot liquid (water/milk/whatever) to make a paste and whip it together with a fork. Once all of the powder is wet and no more clumps add the rest of your liquid while stirring vigorously with the fork.
Always works for me. No clumps and everything is nice and smooth.
One of the older servers taught me that and she made the best hot chocolate in the place.

It's never been how effective the soup is for a cold, but how comforting the soup is while you have chills, aches, and possibly a headache or sinus pressure.
I've always turned to chicken soup because the warm broth helped steam my sinuses and give me some relief, while the warmth of the soup really helped with my chills. The kicker is that the soft noodles and vegetables are great for a queasy stomach along with some saltines.
Give me some chicken soup and a green tea with honey and leave me along while I'm sick.

Making or buying is really an issue of timing and convenience for our family. If we're at the store, it's close to dinner, and they are pulling some out of the oven... chicken's for dinner. For $6.00 you really can't beat it for a fast meal. I then take the carcass and make chicken stock, so it's a really good deal when all is done. We're less stressed trying to get dinner on the table, and we get some good food.
Saying that, we don't buy our chickens from any store we're in. There is a corner market that makes them fresh and only uses the chickens they sell in the refrigerated section and make their own rubs, injections.

We have a large square clay stone we got from a Kitchen supply store that we use for pizzas and larger batch baking, and a smaller thinner round stone from Pampered Chef for smaller items.
I've never had an issue with any of my stones ever cracking or breaking and we're not exactly gentle with them. I do have to remind my wife that she can't soak the crispies off the stones without possibly breaking them later while baking.
The Great Fire of London in 1666 many of the stones in the churches exploded because there was still moisture in them and the fires around were heating the stone. Reading some of the accounts it almost sounds like grenades going off... I don't want that in my oven.

We have the OXO chopper and can't be happier about it. Easy cleanup since the blade unscrews from the base and can be machine washed with most of the other parts. Only the plunger side can't be, but that normally doesn't have anything in it. Large or small portions and can do up to a cup. I bought it about a year before we got married and still have it with moderate wear and tear. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good all-around chopper.

My siblings liked them without crust, but I learned early on that you got your food faster if you just ate the crust. I also was the only one who would make my own sandwiches and wasn't allowed to use a knife.

It depends on what we're buying and how much we need/want. For some of the specialty stuff (quinoa, bulgur, etc) we have to hit Whole Foods in the bulk bins. Everything else, we tend to be able to get in our local grocer.

I might be missing something. How much rice? Just an arbitrary amount as long as the water hits a knuckle? Seems a bit off to me. I've always done the 1:2 ratio and rice comes out just fine.
