Since it's measuring flour and sugar it's either a volume(dry) or weight. Looking at other recipes for Sponge Cake, I'd almost assume those measures would be cups... but I'm still interested in what the word is.

Can you do a post about overnight oatmeal? This is the first time I'm hearing about this kind of thing. My wife and I are always looking for new and interesting ways to start our mornings and this sounds like a huge time saver.

I think we have the same blender, but it came with a few different attachments that we use constantly. The first is the immersion blender that we use for... blending... Anyway, the second is a food processor blade and base that holds about a cup of nuts or other such and is so much easier to work with for those small quantities. The last is the least favorite attachment and is the whisk. I thought this would be a huge time saver, but it only slings things everywhere because there is no real control. Maybe for larger quantities, but we only cook for the 2 of us plus our 18 month old.

If someone offers, I have no problem with them helping clean the dishes. I just ask that they put the cleans on a spot on the counter so I can put them away the way I like it. It's always a good time chatting about the evening when people help to clean-up.

I love the simplicity and elegance of a crock-pot made meal. Dump in whatever during your morning prep and forget about it all day. The smell slowly takes over your kitchen as all the ingredients meld together. My wife and I do chicken, chili, beans, pork loin, even bbq brisket this way. You can't go wrong and it's a wonderful way to relax the day away and not worry about dinner until you are ready to eat. It's not as earthy as utilizing a clay pot, but there is less worry about burning things because you put the flame on too high or not sure about the heat range of your electric stove.

I tend to gravitate towards recipes that have ingredients that are mostly fresh and I tend to carry anyway. This gives me flexibility when I need dinner fast and have not prepared. I don't really pay that much attention to the title. Also timing is a factor. I don't mind long prep or cook times, but won't utilize them as much because normally I'm staring dinner as soon as I get home in the evenings, so I need something that is ready to serve in about 45-75 minutes.

My wife and I are currently fighting a battle with these little buggers. They came with a largish bag of brown rice that we didn't immediately dig into. Now I know some ways to kill the buggers or keep them dormant until we can use the whole bag. Thank you!

ALWAYS! Mainly because my wife keeps them on the table... along with the mail, cookbooks, etc. So we use them.

I might be off-base with this, but it would seem to get clogged with pulp after only one or two sprays. It's not like the whole inside of the lemon/lime is just juice. You'd use it for just special occasions as a conversation piece and then it'll sit in your drawer because slicing and squeezing is faster and more efficient.

I love recipe cards... when I'm sharing recipes. When I'm cooking it's all digital. So much easier to search by name or ingredients in a phone app or computer than through stacks of cards. But when I'm sharing a recipe with a friend or family member, having a card is wonderful.

I'm not sure using a task lamp in the kitchen is best for me. I like to have an open window or something for any extra light and I'll install a light if needed. My biggest pet peeve is not enough light in my pantry. Do you have any good product advice for that?

I have a couple of larger whisks for the big jobs, but just use a fork for the smaller ones. My constant go to is a small hand-held mandoline. It's small enough to fit in a drawer, but makes slicing a whole onion, tomato, or potato a breeze. I have a larger mandoline, but this one is the perfect size for my wife and I.

Whatever happened to just using your hands? My wife and I just rub the cloves in our hands vigorously if we need the whole cloves or smash it with the side of our knife if chopped/minced/pressed. I guess to each their own.

Thank you for this. I've always wondered what temp to bake my pizzas at. My next experiment will have to wait though... I'm out of toppings :-(

We have the Bamboo one at the house and it does a wonderful job. We actually dropped it one night and though we destroyed it, but only a small crack formed and it still works. For the price, it has been awesome.
I've always been skeptical of open salt cellars because I'm a messy cook.

Only when I get lazy. A stick of butter or some kind of oil is what I normally use. I don't see the need for a mister when you can use a cloth with oil on it and negate the clogging issue.
To each their own.

If you're at work and can't get the site to load, I think they are using some things that a work environment might block. Mine won't load and looking through some of the source, my proxy servers are kicking back. Check it out when you get home if you can't get to it now.

Do as they do for Ramen and other Asian type noodle dishes. Only put in the noodles for the serving, not for the whole pot. Better noodles for the experience.
