I have a really nice phone that does not have IOS, Android or Windows or anything like that. I can't check my E-mail or browse the net but I can use it to make phone calls and send/receive SMS. The battery lasts for 3 weeks or so and charges in under an hour. And it only cost about 1/10 of what the newest Iphone costs. I feel smug. :)

When will we get barbells where we turn a lever to adjust the weight? Or if the barbells would detect who is holding them and automatically adjust the weight for the perfect workout every time. That would be smart system.

Heating the silica does not exactly "reactivate" it. It evaporates the moisture that has gathered in the silica. Moisture boils away at somewhere around 100 °C or 210-220 °F leaving the silica "pores" empty to absorb moisture.
If you're keeping silica packs around, just in case, you can heat them and then store them in tightly closed ziplock bag to prevent the silica from picking up moisture out of the air.

I'we used the XBMC remote but it was a hassle to set it up each time I replaced my phone or set up my system again, so now I use wireless mouse (with long range) for my PC.

1. It's a matter of taste.
2. Maybe with a fresh install. I doubt it with an upgrade.
3. "The best way to use the gestures is via touch" Ehh,,,!?! Multitasking in W7 and Linux (what I use) is very good.
4. Memory is very cheap these days.
5. Cool if it works properly. But I don't want to keep sensitive documents in a cloud/sky server where corporations (who are there to make money) and hackers might have access to them.
6. Also cool, although I don't use Skype much. Maybe one call a month and I have not had troubles with it.
7. At last Microsoft has followed just about everyone else.
8. Default settings might extend battery life but since the monitor gobbles more than half the battery charge, I doubt the battery life has changed much, with the same display settings or, for example, while watching video.
9. Nice, although I have not used Xbox since the first version.
10. Nice but Apple OS upgrade is 19.99 and Linux (Ubuntu and Linux-Mint) is free.

Reading the headline I thought there would be no wires, not that the wires had just been hidden inside the wall. I change my living room layout at leas twice a year so putting holes in the wall is a big no-no for me.

In my opinion, saying that this is 0" TV mount is like lowering your car by letting air out of the tires. :) Sure it's correct, but only if you're ready to sacrifice your wall (or tires).

The bad things about these large small USB sticks is that they're easily lost. They also use up a USB port. Maybe you should do an article about tiny USB hubs. Compare speed and how much storage they can actually provide. 8 port USB hub, full of 64 Gig USB sticks is a respectable amount of storage. :)

Beware that phones have a nasty habit of wiping the magnetic strip of cheap cards, when kept together. At least don't slip your hotel keycard in with the phone.

I usually read the manual. In case of my most recent purchases there was only one manual that actually had instructions and it was buried deep in the included CD, not printed. The rest of the "manuals" with the products I've bought only have safety warnings, no instructions of any kind to help with setup.

I agree with the Laser movement. Although the printer manufacturers have started making the toner cartridges smaller, they are still much bigger (in numbers of printable pages) than the ink cartridges. Also, toners don't "freeze" up if they are not used for extended periods.

Warning. This list is for USA only. In most other parts of the world (now few Americans are scratching their heads, wondering what I mean :D ) the voltage is double than what they use in USA. This means that for the same power the current is halved so you can use much smaller "gauge" wire for similar products, like toaster and hair dryers. Also "gauge" has little meaning outside USA, most of the rest of the world use better ways of measuring wire thickness.
If the lights dim when you turn something on it is not the fault of the extension cord you're using (unless the lights are also on the same extension cord). You might have faulty wiring in your house and you should have it checked by a professional.

There is a saying that "If you have dark colors in a room, you have to have plenty of light". I think that the most under-appreciated feature of interior decorations/design is light. But it only works as long as they're lit. :)

Beware that your result will vary. Some cords will not hold the coiled shape, no matter how much you heat them. Also note that coiled cords are more sensitive to white "noise".

I used to do this to my DVD collection before I ripped them all and packed them away. It really messed up few of my friends who asked me to please remove the eyesore. Some visitors liked it though. :)

I don't recommend anyone discharging the battery unnecessarily, it is simply not needed anymore. Batteries wear with use. You can imagine it as a piece of cheese and each charge cycle takes away a slice.
The newest Android, on my Asus Transformer, has nifty little information window, under settings, telling me exactly what feature is using the electricity; monitor or WiFi, it even tells me what program uses most power. It also has the option of turning off the Wifi when the screen is dark.

No matter where you live, there is always the chance that your house will be broken into. And there is nothing you can really do to stop that. Some things can lower the odds, but nothing will make you perfectly safe for "savvy burglars", all items mentioned in the article can help a little bit (Neighborhood watches really help to cut down on crime in the neighborhood, but it is very difficult to get volunteers for them, especially for the long run).
Since people seem to misunderstand me a lot, I want to repeat my opinions.
A. When no one is home, your most valuable things are not in your home.
B. Cheap or old stuff in your home is less likely to be stolen AND makes your home less likely to be broken into.
(CCINCA. For the last two years, Amsterdam. Owning nice and expensive stuff does not make you a jerk. Yes. No, but if you remove the "not" from the question the answer becomes yes.)
