I wouldn't go selling my wedding band, or my heirloom Christmas ornaments, even though I am aware that they are just "things". However, I have always had a rule that if we don't use it for 6 months we don't need it. We also try not to buy anything on a whim. We wait a minimum of a month, up to a few years before we buy things that aren't considered necessities.

I'm with paperdolls, I love the IDEA of it being an "all-in-one" but I could just see putting together a scooter, and 5 minutes later he comes running in telling me he wants a car now.

I'm not sure what is being used here, but typically plates intended to be hung on the wall will have a slightly taller foot ring that flares out a little. This way you can just wrap a wire around the foot ring and hang it from a nail.

I guess I luck out with my usual house guests. My MIL is happy to sleep in the recliner. (It's honestly her favorite, she even does it in her own home.) My sister and brother-in-law bring a feather bed and throw that on the floor. Everyone else has taken the couch.

I'd hate to go to bed in this after a long night of drinking...

I grow cat grass, too. It's just as easy as deneph says. But, if you do have cats, make sure that the container is somewhat heavy! My cats like to headbutt the grass and if it's not, they knock it over.

Aspenchick - How about putting a screen door on the nursery? This way the door is "open" so you can see and hear the baby, but the cats won't be able to go in there. You should be able to find nice wooden screen doors which would look much more attractive than an aluminum one.

That's worrisome. I am a ceramist, and I was taught from the beginning of my education that using glazes containing any amount of lead and/or barium are unacceptable for dinnerware. I had no idea that a corporation like Corelle would use lead in their products.

Those beds look amazing. When I was little my dad put a small tent on top of my bed and I thought it was so cool.

I had a TV in my room growing up, but as an adult, I won't have a TV in the bedroom. My partner and I usually take that time settling into bed to talk about our day, and our plans for the following day....if we aren't taking that time for a little something else, that is. When we stay at his parents house we end up watching the Dog Whisperer in bed until we fall asleep.

I'd say Graphite Ridge. Because: I'm not sure I like the idea of grey counter tops, and while I love the Pistachio Pear it would really limit future decor changes.

I like the old design better. Too cluttered/busy/confusing....The articles seem lost in all the other stuff going on around them.

I give people art as gifts all the time, but it's always something made by me or my partner. He is a photographer so most of his gifted prints were things people expressed an interest in having. I am a ceramist, and occasionally a piece I make will just instantly make me think of someone when I see it coming out of the kiln, so I give it to them. Now I'm worried people are stashing them away in closets!

I'm from northern Michigan, and growing up our Christmas trees were usually cut from the woods around where we lived. We'd go out as a family on my birthday (Dec.8) every year, trampling through the snow, arguing over which was better. Then when the holidays were over it was burned in the woodstove to heat the house.

We go back to our hometown for the holidays now so we don't bother with a tree, but if we did I'd do it that way. I also think it would be nice to buy a live potted tree every year and plant it after.

What ever happened to good ol' imagination?? When I was a little girl my "mansion" was a blanket roof that was supported by the fence and a couple of chairs in the yard.

Love it! But, I'm confused about pics 2 and 3 also. The plant, the the rug, the couch fabric and pillows, artwork on the wall...all different. Hmm..

As an artist, I've actually paid more than that for colored pencils (for 36: about double, actually). However, I have to agree with everton...I would never buy $18 colored pencils for kids.

There was one year in college that my boyfriend and I went through a little more than 38lbs of popcorn kernels. (Yes, literally...$2.35 for a 12.5lb bag at Costco!) We always cooked in a pan on the stovetop. I like mine cooked in olive oil, and sprinkled with sea salt and a little cajun seasoning.
