I have plain, old, white appliances in my laundry room. Although at first I lusted after the trendy colors new machines come in, I learned to love the white when it pops against my kelly green walls! I contemplated ecards, but for me, nothing beats the joy of getting a special card (with note and update on the year!) in the snail mail. It's just one of many Christmas traditions that I'm willing to put a little extra effort into to keep up. Yes, hitting SEND on a mass e-mail would be easier, but it's worth it for my friends to get the real deal. What about a round-up of compostable dishware? I went to a wedding where they used compostable cups and plates, and they were cute and a nice compromise between washing up a ton of dishes and buying cute but not-so-green dishware. We do modified Navy showers. It's just too dang cold to completely shut off the water when shampooing, shaving, etc. But, it's pretty easy to find a shower head that has a low-flow switch to turn down the water pressure when you don't need the full stream.
