Terribly disappointing to have your original plan fail after all that work - don't know what I would have done then.

Glad you are happy with them, they look a good size and shape, useful pieces.

Very nice! Thank you for sharing. My childhood home also had a big carpet that had been cut in half for two rooms. :)

This looks nice and bright and clean. :) Thanks for taking the pictures from the same direction for good comparison. Also thanks for not sending what appear to be perfectly reasonable cabinets off to the landfill.

With turquoise lath , how can it possibly be "a sad little house"? Pictures, please!

I certainly understand the Lacking In Natural Light part, though.

Oh my, I'm among friends! :) No booze, no soft drinks, no ice cubes; old furniture, handmedowns. No sofa, no coffee table, no big guest rooms, very few guests - only those I love to see. My quiet place, my refuge, my retreat. Those I love say it feels like "coming home" or makes them think of their grandma's home - in a positive loving way, because they realize they miss that. Probably the musty smell of old books, truth be known.... ;)

Of course there are things that need fixing or changing, that's why I'm here on AT! Harvesting good ideas. :) Like new flower arrangements every Friday!

No apology offered!

Very much not me, but obviously very you. :) Nice to see. Love the chicken wire door. I've seen a screen door on a bedroom to keep animals out, let breeze in.

Does that nice fireplace work? Does the chimney draw well? It looks unused (so clean).

*That* is charming. :) When I was little I had a playhouse and I loved it so much. Yours is much more polished than mine was though, with the paint and furnishings.

Very attractive! This gray color is not dreary, maybe it's the daylight you have, I don't know.

Dulcibella, if it's the book I have here, it's "Cats in the Sun". ISBN 0-8118-0678-2 Indeed a most calming coffeetable book, and makes me want to go there! :) Impossible for me to pick a favorite picture, all good.

Well done. These pieces are useless nowadays for their original purposes - at least to most people. Technology has changed too much. But our need for storage seems ever-present! Vision and elbow-grease sure can go a long way. :)

This is not my style at all, but I see a lovely home put together with thought and care. How to be so neat and clean - arrgh, that's just not me. Houseplants, cats, books, hobbies, old furniture - sigh. It really boils down to priorities and time. ;) And of course she "picked up" before the photo shoot!

Bedroom wall coloring is exceptionally flattering. *My* bed in a corner is a pain to make up. Still trying to figure out how to readjust things here. It's only been about 20 years... (rolling eyes)

Of course it depends what you want to cook. I seem to make lots of cookies, bean soups, spaghetti type sauces, simple meat dishes, simple veggie dishes.

I have pots of parsley, oregano, marjoram, thyme, rosemary. Fresh really is nice.

My local healthfood store has many spices in bulk amazingly cheaper than the grocery store. I use old spice jars or tiny (4 oz) canning jars for them. My most used are:
black pepper
ground cloves
curry powder
vanilla extract
almond extract
bay leaves
oregano (or at least a good Italian spice mix)

I keep them inside a cupboard on a lazy-susan turntable. Light can damage spices, I've heard.

Very nice - now I am going to do this for sure... it's been on my list for a couple of *years* and I've never gotten to it. :* Not only does it look more finished, it will look cleaner. Pale toekicks get smudged, marked, and surprisingly dirty.
