I use two iced tea spoons when making cookies. They're great for getting the right amount of dough from the bowl and dropping it onto the cookie sheet. Stainless (not sterling) are also good for filling devilled eggs. Nice to have those long handles. :)

Why the Sterling Silver Iced Tea Spoon Is Good for So Much More Than Tea

Looks very comfortable, important for a home.

The bookcase trick is very good. :)

Like the mirror on the stairway - check yourself on the way down, is everything ok? Might be distracting, though, make me miss my step. Would need to try it out.

Dining room open to the outdoors - no bugs? I'd be crawling with yellowjackets and mosquitoes, bummer.

Ah well. Maybe at my age I have regressed to jr high level. ;) I have curtains below the kitchen sink. Not best pleased with the ones I have, would like to make new, haven't found the right fabric. Yet.

Ah the magnet wall! How dangerous that would be in my home, how cluttered it would soon become, but what a fine idea for an architectural firm. :)

What a hoot! That first picture, with the rug covered couch, made me feel right at home. The daybed in my living room is covered with an old rug that cannot any longer be on the floor. It's just right for me: old, worn, fairly shabby. :)

However, the pillows on my daybed have removeable washable fabric covers, no itchy-scratchy wool rug against my face, thank you very much.

For those who worry about such things, yes, my poor old rug went to the oriental rug wash place before it became a daybed cover.

The black doors are very nice indeed. Striking, bold, still leaving plenty of room for other design elements in a room. It would require a bright space to pull off, as in the picture.

Reminds me of old homes I've seen, but perhaps that is the width of the floorboards...

Yes indeed, be very careful with those pulls - they can pull a pocket right out of a garment. We have something similar at work and the best solution was to remove the drawer handles altogether.

Moist... oh yes, been there. Only it wasn't orange - it was champagne color. Dirty, too. Now all we have is plywood subfloor. And some throw rugs. Not sure what to do next, but that awful *moist* carpet is *gone*! :D

Nice description and pictures. Question: you stained the top before you sanded the sides/front/drawers? Or is that just for the photos? Always good to see how to back out of a painted piece - when so many updates include painting.

Preferred kitchen #1 before - bright and soothing. Do not much like dark countertops. #9 is attractive.

Agree, clearing off counters is a major re-do in itself. Everything looks so different then. :)
