We used to have a Big Wheels car wash sprinkler set back in the day when I was little...I loved driving through that in the summers on my Smurf Big Wheel! Pretty sure it was made out of pvc, and yes, I drank the water. Sometimes I even drank the water straight from the hose (and we were also on well water). Thanks for inspiring the throwback; now I want to build one for me and my 5 year old for the summer!

I'm also from TX and live in a home we built about 2.5 years ago...and I still haven't been able to make sense of all the minute things (like rounded sheetrock corners) and the corner fireplace I have as well, which is just a standard builders' concrete mold painted white, and unfortunately, completely off-centered on the wall so making an extension is mathematically challenging/impossible for the adhd brain to figure out- so I'm a little jealous that yours actually has some character already! I'd work with it, the white is impossible to clean with all the little indentions and you'll end up hating yourself for it :) But there are concrete/masonry stains...Sherwin Williams is a great place to go for that!

Buying a mantle/surround is expensive, and all you need to do is build a box with a few pieces of lumber and moulding and attach it to what's already there and build "up", aka, give it some girth! Especially before you try to mount your tv, assuming that's what the cut-outs are for...

I've been looking online for months to find ideas how I could rebuild my sofa....I was about to dive in, but I'm not that brave! So happy to have found your post - and the "new" loveseat looks awesome!!!
I'm tempted to cut off one of the arms from the loveseat and one from the sofa and rebuild it into a sectional (mostly because I hate them and they eat up so much space). Since I have a sleeper sofa, I probably need to do a lot of planning....we'll see! Thanks for being the brave one :)

What a cheerful room for a baby girl! I absolutely love it, and the space seems so fresh and cozy...not overly girly like typical nurseries we see in magazines!!! Did you buy the lampshades or did you embellish them yourself? Everything is pulled together so nicely - great job!
