How Many Phones, Tablets & Computers Have You Owned?

I haven't observed to verify, but I'll assume my Dad has no idea about pinch & zoom on the iPad given his one finger point to type that carried over from his GameBoy days (who else didn't use their thumbs to control it?!?)

Also, I've never seen somebody who takes longer to pull the damn trigger on a purchase... he was wowed by the iPhone and wants one so bad, but held off for a world phone that would work with Verizon. The 4S came out, which could be used globally and he still kept waiting... wanted to wait until after my brother's wedding (in Oct) and then vacation in Mex in Dec/Jan. Now he's talking about getting one when the 5 comes out. We'll see...

Now, he's dragging his feet in the same way for a MacBook, that Mom is "giving him" for their 40th anniversary... he's only been talking of switching to Mac for 2 years now.

Taking regular camera app photos also allows for much better control of zooming and positioning... this is a tactic I often use. It's also fun to go back into the old photos on my iPhone (some going back to my original iPhone from 2007) and giving them new life w/ Instagram.

I have one still sitting on my night stand... haven't used it in 5 years, in fact it hasn't been plugged in for that long. Once I got my iPhone, that became my alarm clock and I needed the outlet for my iPhone charger.

I had one I got in high school that is still in my old bedroom at my parents' house. I got a second one when I went away to college, which is the one that's now been beside my bed for the past 16 years.

We've got a 46" because it fit into our existing entertainment center, but I'd prefer a 55-60". Unless I had a dedicated home theater room, anything larger would seem excessive...

My grandparents had that winerack in their kitchen... wish I'd snagged that, too, when I grabbed their original Nelson starburst clock.

@joellemarie OK, so Klout's changes may affect some types of users more than others, but again there is a lot of information about these changes and those who hold their Klout score near & dear complaining about changes to demonstrate that this is a structural shift globally that affects many people. It's not like your score alone fell but others who you might be competing with for the job didn't. If a potential employer is going to put such blind faith in a questionable metric (not like it's even coming from Neilsen, ComScore, etc.) instead of a more qualitative look at your credentials and presence online probably wouldn't be a good employer to work for.

Wouldn't you be able to show them the countless articles about Klout's changes and explain how it's impacted everybody's scores in the same way? It's like a currency devaluing -- everybody is still the same relative to each other even if their wealth is all lower.

A hex wrench drill bit is the best investment I ever made... right out of college, I bought an apartment worth of furniture at Ikea and assembled it all in no time (well, a day) and without the painful fingers.

That Power Macintosh G4 is pretty damn close to my experience with Apple stock. Bought some in 2000 and more in 2002 (avg. of $12.13/sh) and still have most of it... just kicking myself I sold 20% of my shares when the stock got up to $45 in 2005.

My wife makes an incredible dish w/ Fontina in which she wraps some sauteed chicken breast, Fontina and fig jam w/ pastry dough and bakes until the pastry is flaky and the cheese of gooey inside.

We're limited in how much we can overbuy because we're in a 1BR apartment, but we'd certainly stockpile things like TP and soda if we had the space. More often than not, the trunk of my car becomes extra storage for the large pack of paper towels or pallets of Coke Zero from Costco.

Jasonpolk, at least with the free app, you can demo the reverse text to get the gist of how it works. And charging per language makes sense... kind of the Gilette razor model.

Anyway, I'm headed to Mexico on vacation tomorrow so the timing of this release was perfect! I spent the $5 and plan to play with it and see how well it does...

I've been debating whether to get a Blu-Ray player myself or not... I recently got one for my Dad that also streams NetFlix, etc. Not sure whether to spend $150 for one of those or get an AppleTV for $100. Blu-Ray quality may be higher, but in reality I'm not sure I'd notice the difference on my 5 year old 720p TV.

My wife and I were just down in Chinatown (Chicago) last night and were looking at woks while killing time until our table was ready... didn't pick one up, but have been plannig to get like #4 above. I'd had one like that but non-stick, except the metal Chinese cooking utensils gouged the finish and it rusted. Going plain steel this time.

When my (now) wife and I first moved in together, we each had one bedrooms crammed with stuff, and were consolidating into one. We got rid of some stuff, but kept some furniture, etc. we thought we might need if we were to move into a larger apartment. Also, she had boxes of stuff from her parents, who live overseas but return to the U.S. for sabbaticals every couple years. Since my wife went back to school, we're still in the same one bedroom apartment, and have paid the replacement value of the furniture a couple times over at this point. I wish we could just get rid of everything but she refuses...

At least I did think to ask about specials last year and was able to upgrade from a 10x5 to a 10x7 while saving about 20%. The new unit was 2 doors down from our old one, so an easy enough move!

Yes, lots of burger places in Chicago are now offering pretzel rolls -- Kuma's, The Counter, Claim Company (suburban Northbrook)... hold up quite well to big, juicy burgers.
