I love it. I just could never afford it. My grocery getter bike cost me $600, and that took forever to save for.

This happened to us. We were cat sitting for friends, when my husband had gone to the house to feed them. They have four lovely felines. Unfortunately, the porch was rotten, and they were unaware of the extent of it because they always entered through the garage.

As my husband opened the door, he fell through the porch. One of the cats, the one now on prozac, lunged forward and bit him. Another shot past him into the woods. The cat that bit him, ran back in, and he was able to get the door closed. His leg was broken in the fall through the porch.

He managed to drive home, and we got him to the doc's. I went back later, and corralled the remaining three into the cat room, and left the back door open as per the owners instructions. A few hours later, when I drove back, the cat was back indoors. (Thankfully! There are coyotes there.)

All cats were safe. My husband had to have antibiotics for the rather vicious bit, and a boot for his broken ankle. In the end it all worked out.

I'd egg crate foam the wall, then hang heavy drapes. I'd also move my bed to the opposite side of the room. Then, I'd sleep with a small fan on. As a last resort, I'd put earplugs in at night.

Can you tell I've had horribly noisy roommates?

Oh no. At first look the styrofoam and binder clip light looked like the clips were spiders or something.

I loved the idea right up until I saw the price. I'll stick to my much cheaper alternatives.

I use baking soda. My scalp was flaking, itchy, and I tried not shampooing, and surprisingly my scalp cleared up completely. I just scrub my scalp with baking soda, and rinse it out. I rinse with apple cider vinegar and rinse again. My hair is less greasy, and my scalp feels way better. I won't go back to using shampoo.

I'd kill for a bidet. I'm looking into washlets.

I have one from when I worked as a sous chef at an Italian restaurant. We had a lunch special with gazpacho. I reached into the cooler to pull out the five gallon bucket my much taller and stronger coworker had put on the top shelf. It was half full. I banged the bottom on the shelf when I brought it down, and up ended 2 gallons of gazpacho on my head.

It was like out of a movie. There I was dripping cold tomato soup all over me. The chef sent me to his house, a block or two away, to go shower up and borrow clothes. It was so bad, I tossed out my shoes because I could not get the soup out of them.

Thank goodness you got the fire out.

My biggest mess wasn't so dangerous. I was making candied ginger, which I've made a thousand times before. I lost track of time, and it boiled over. I had ginger syrup all over everything.

My friends referred to it as the sugar apocalypse. It took me months to get the floors clean, because every time I mopped, and thought it was clean, we'd walk on it, and feel that it wasn't. I had to pull the stove out, and scrape hardened sugar syrup off the sides of the stove. I never did get it all out of the top of the range, despite pulling the top off the stove. It had hardened too much.

Now I can't make candied ginger without a heavy round of mocking from everyone.

I lived in an apartment that resurfaced our tub. It's got to be one of the most toxic processes I've ever seen. The guys that did it, were very concerned about my cat being in the house at all. They said it's just that toxic. We ended up sealing off my master bedroom with tape, and full fans in the window to keep out the fumes. It took days for the stuff to stop off gassing to an unbearable smell level.

And after all that, the thing started peeling right off. It had to be done all over again. Even then, six months later, it was already bubbling. We are not weird, or hard on our tub, either. I just stand and shower in the thing. Nothing else.

It's a lot cheaper, and durable to just replace the tub with a Re-Store style industrial salvage tub.

One of my fellow nurses brought me up to speed on the Diva cup thing. I tried it, and loved it. It took a couple times inserting it to get used to it, but it's really way more comfortable than tampons.

I don't think, as the other poster indicated, that TSS is any more likely with that or anything else. Common sense being the rule here. I have found my docs don't know what they are, and I end up educating them.

What I like the best about it, is that after I learned how to use it, it was really more comfortable. By a large margin.

I'm with the first poster. I have a GI related disease, and my best friend has Crohn's. The recycled stuff just doesn't work if you're already sore and sensitive. I've been pricing washlets, but I'm a little daunted by the prospect of putting one in, and trying to get warm water to it.
