Honestly, all you really have to do, is take it outside and spray paint it.

Apartment Therapy New York | Good Questions: Advice for Transforming this Table?
6/23/09 9:35 AM

Great find for sure!

However as an amateur expert on antiques, I can confidently assure you that if that table truly were from the 1870's that
1) it would cost a minimum of $5,000, not $550
and
2) wheels on furniture were turn of the century, mid 1900's the earliest, and RARELY applied to dining tables.
(If something seems to be too good to be true, then it is.)

My guess is from the photo that this table is from the
1940's-50's, constructed to look older then what it appears to be. Again, it's a great find and it
will provide many wonderful memories.

Since it may not be a "true" antique & considering you're
considering a modern look, perhaps applying a high gloss white or black paint, would be a great solution?
And a chair such as the Louis ghost chair, would be a perfect marriage.

Have fun with it!

So excited for SOWA's Opening Day this Sunday !!!
(I too think "SOWA" is a ridiculous name, but oh well.)

What I'm most excited about for this year, is that they've added an antique furniture area. We've been asking for this since its' 1st year, almost 5 years ago.
Should be awesome.

it's so refreshing to see a couple appreciating and using a loft in its' true form, rather the seeing a space with four walls and no rooms and calling that a loft.

this space IS a loft.

as far as the decorating and aesthetic goes...
...wow!

you guys nailed it.
truly.

wish i knew you guys, so that i could hang out there
and absorb the creative energy of your awesome home.

all my best.

was just there yesterday, enjoying the sunshine and a cocktail at their bar, which over looked these amazing boats.

forgot my credit card at the bar though. :-(

better to use brick walls as a texture to be personalized, rather then a design element in its' natural color.

i think you made the right call.

To "mjs7640",

Before owning our current condo, we rented for years, and personalized each of them, with paint, hung art work, or whatever.

The only catch is, is that we had to be willing to do all the work to return the apt to its' original condition, and we did.

My point is, don't allow anything to keep you from designing your home, for it is YOUR home.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Brad, and I am Kendra's husband.
Thank you for all the nice compliments, you've made our day!

When we bought this 419 sq ft condo, located in Boston's South End neighborhood, the 1st thing we felt needed to be spruced up, was the kitchen and bathroom.

The paint color in the kitchen is a Chocolate Brown with a
Milk White trim, again by Pittsburgh Paint. As for the bathroom, the color is Jet Black and again Milk White,
with Peacock Toile wallpaper.

As for all the appliances, I simply applied a metallic paint.
It's a specific paint, made for metal and plastic surfaces
available at any hardware store. The side by side appliances are in fact 1 mini fridge and 1 mimi freezer.

We did remove the NON-WORKING Stove Vent for aesthetic purposes. Makes sense, right?

Again, thank you so much and have fun on your next home project.

Hello Everyone!

This is Brad, the person who submitted the photos.

Thank you for all the remarks, both the good and not so good ones. I can appreciate constructive feed back.

Also, I live in Boston, not Chicago.

In regards to the $3,500 spent on this project, please know that it included the Paint, Wallpaper, new decorative items,
T.V. Credenza, Sectional Sofa, Arm Chair, & a Dining Table w/ 2 Dining Chairs. In my opnion, that's a heck of a bargain.

The furniture is from BoConcept and I used to manage the
Cambridge, Ma. Store and the Employee Discount is wholesale.

Yes, above the T.V. Credenza are (9) Koo Koo clocks, purchased from Urban Outfitters, on clearnace for
just .99 each.

Currently, I own an Interior Painting service, and did all the
work MYSELF, in 2.5 days. Please visit my website.

I also was responsible for the before photos and I too think the condo looked beautiful then, but my wife and I felt a need for a change. Who's to say we don't revert?
After all, it's only paint, right?
