Hi Doctor Flarb! Most moss terrariums stay lidded, but there are open terrariums. Those require so much more maintenance (daily misting sometimes). With the lidded terrarium, a microclimate is created. You do bring in some needed air circulation by opening the lid to mist the moss - or opening it to peer inside and ogle the little people! :) This creates a happy balance for the moss, but is not needed forever...I must say, my favorite and oldest terrarium has not been touched in months...and the little hobos that live inside seem quite happy to be left alone ;) Twig: Tiny Terrariums with Personality Flag this comment	9/11/10 8:07 AM

My main man Herman has had some pee issues over his lifetime...but it was always always always the exact same object: bathmat with a rubber bottom. Bathmats that are cloth on both sides? He could care less. So now we just put the bathmat over the lip of the tub. No biggie. He did have pee issues during our renovation...every time we left piles of "sweeping compound" and dust, he'd pee on it...but that's OUR fault, not his. We should have known better. my aunt got beautiful concrete countertops in a very high-end renovation.....while they look great, and i guess are easy to patch/fill if chipped, they are VERY persnickety. and the seams look a little sloppy to me. and they need to seal it twice a year, i think. i got caesarstone (grey, so in a weird way it looks like concrete) and i'm genuinely happy with it. it was just SO expensive - a 6' span with a sink cut out cost us $1200!!!!!! ugh! but yaknow, it cleans up like a dream (even if it's splotchy after a wash...it dries unevenly) and is impervious to my clutziness. no chips yet!!! fingers crossed :) Can You Give an Honest Opinion on Concrete Countertops? i made the mistake of buying a low-pile rug from ikea and the cats have nearly destroyed it. but i'm not done! i'm going to buy a shag rug from home depot for the living room and i think it'll be great. they can claw all they want...how will you notice? it's shag! and it's only like $200 for an 8x10 :) Rug Ideas Cat Clawing Prevention Tips?
