We have the Summer video monitor but an earlier version. My daughter is 22 months old and we still use it.

It gives us the peace of mind that we need, worked perfectly up until now and came very handy when we were sleep training her. Now it comes handy with nighttime potty training.

I tell all my expectant friends that video monitor is "the" gadget to get with a new baby. I can't imagine life without it!

it's a lovely room but I'm always in a dilemma:

I like beautiful places and spending money at my own means to make my spaces nicer...

but then I'm a mom and I can't help thinking this money I spent could have been used towards greater causes for children that are not as lucky as mine.

GP has style and the means but I hope she just doesn't waste all this energy and money for temporary kids room to feature on her site.

My solution: I try to donate to non-profits more every year to compensate for my guilt of loving cute things.

I went back and forth between submitting/not submitting and finally got everything together at the last minute. It was so much fun.

How are we going to know which posts are the submissions? or we are not supposed to know? :)

My 18-mo old daughter has a new "reading corner".
Normally we have a low shelf for her in our own bookcase. We also keep books in her bedroom to read before bedtime. Now the reading corner has low shelves for putting books front side visible. There is a little table and a chair. She's been liking it a lot so far. She picks up books, reorders them on the shelf and reads them herself sitting on the chair.

We also look at magazines together. She loves looking at especially pottery barn catalogs, exploring the pics with lots of colorful things and kids in them. So I started keeping a stack of kid-friendly mags in the living room in a small bin.
