i would play this game with my friend Richard, who has been sick and housebound and would love the diversion--and for whom, when he was healthier, no meal was complete unless it included about 10 new cheeses he'd never tried before from Dean & Deluca's. yikes... i just read the comments about mean posts...i hope my comments above are ok...i have been thinking about the tendency to "groom" the outdoors, and this rug struck me as an example of that...so it was the concept, not the person i was dissing (a bit). not to be a total grumpus, but shouldnt we at least think twice about turning the outdoors...even if it is an urban patio...into an extension of our living rooms? Plastic Outdoor Area Rug from Home Infatuation |

i also live in Astoria and had the same problem. i found a great hardware store in manhattan: Vercesi Hardware, 152 east 23rd. i bought special plastic picture hooks there that come in several sizes depending on the weight you need to hold. they have either 3 or 4 sharp prongs on the back that actually penetrate the concrete (you hammer them in)--quite astounding, because i tried a million other kind of nails. (they sound similar to those described as being available at Ikea--except you dont have to go to Ikea!) unfortunately, i am at work, and cant check the brand name foryou--but Vercesi is wonderful and the clerks are knowledgeable. i also missed this earlier, and agree with all the positive comments about the bed and storage design. however, i am especially admiring of--and find this rare--the decision to make the view and the window the other focal point of the apartment. i am always surprised that people who have a great view make the choice to use it as backdrop, rather than center stage. this is terrific! #13 - Jawrite's Light Box |
