I'm actually making cupcakes tonight for my daughter's third birthday and really struggling to find a classic yellow cupcake recipe. Bonus points if it would allow dividing the batter to make half vanilla/half chocolate cupcakes. Any leads would be great for a reliable recipe. If, like my Keurig has for regular ground coffee, it came with a adapter so that I can use my own formula I would consider it. But formula is already so expensive yet relatively easy to use that I'm not sure I see the value -- especially if you live somewhere with good water. BabyNes Nutrition System |

We were one of those that had a very large wedding and blessed with many generous friends and family. Although some parts of the country tend to give money as a wedding present, where we are most would rather give an actual item. So we had a large registry that included, I hate to say it, some padding--items we anticipated returning for credit. We also broke down sets whenever possible. For example, registering for individual knives or pots and pans. We then returned all the individual pieces and then purchased sets with the resulting credit. Since the sets are typically cheaper than the piecemeal approach, the extra credit went to large ticket items like furniture. That said, we cook and entertain a lot so I feel that we make good use out those wonderful gifts (even the china and crystal) and I love that I have such a great, personal association with something as simple as kitchen tongs (part of a college friends shower present). My father in law keeps bees and it is a fascinating hobby with many personal and community wide benefits. And he delights in getting calls to come "rescue" a feral bee hive. It can be time consuming to get the hives going and there are still various health issues that have to be closely monitored given recent events, but once they get going the hives really thrive. Look! The CI vodka recipe really does work and it makes the most forgiving dough -- so much so I thought I had screwed it up the first time I made it and it turned out to be the most flaky yet tender crust I have ever made. 5 Steps to Master Perfect Pie Crust |

We have a butter crock that generally stays in the fridge chock full of salted butter. Doesn't get much use during the week, but first thing Saturday morning (could even be Friday night) I put it out on the counter for breakfast. While it means I may not have perfectly spreadable butter for my toast, it is softened enough to melt with the residual heat. With almost no maintenance or risk of mold its a compromise that works well for us. Good Gadget: Melissa Clark's Butter Keeper |

Check out Blue Sky Papers. They have some lovely journals/guest books that might fit the bill. We actually just got one of their keepsake books for a Christmas present for my sister as a guest book for their vacation home. Really lovely quality, comes with note cards and adhesive to mount things, and expansion packs are available. http://www.blueskypapers.com/memory-books/blue-sky-papers-exclusive-keepsake-books.html Christmas Memory Albums Good Questions |

We got this kitchen in red for my daughter's first birthday and she adores it! In addition to its fantastic looks and great durability, it is a great size for apartments, smaller homes, and anyone who doesn't want the play kitchen to eclipse the size of the actual kitchen. But be forewarned, it has a lot of pieces to be assembled. Win This Kid Kraft Vintage Kitchen from Zulily! Holiday Giveaway 2010 |

@Brooklynnia - as for the olive oil bottle step, I usually pour out the olive oil I'm going to need into a little bowl before touching the raw chicken and then use a brush to paint it on the chicken to avoid contamination issues. Or, as I did this weekend, melt butter with some crushed garlic and then paint that onto the chicken. The recipe I used was the one from American Test Kitchen's New Best Recipe cookbook which is a bit different, but equally as straightforward as this one. The chicken came out beautifully (if I don't say so myself). How To Roast a Chicken Home Hacks | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I too had to track it down, and found it on Ebay in a buy it now for about $35 less than what they wanted at home decorators. Still a good amount for a hamper but a lot closer to the land of reasonable. Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Rattan Elephant Hamper |
