We basically do this same thing in the summertime. We take one of those giant post-it sheets and list all of the things we'd like to do in the summer and stick it on our fridge. We use it as a checklist, marking activities off as we do them, so that we don't end up letting the whole summer slip by without making time for fun activities that (often times) we can't do during the school year.

Paper Source is an excellent suggestion - they have lots of choices. Luxe Paperie is a great online paper/gift wrap store. Definitely the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle books - my girls adore them, as did I. If you like Pippi Longstocking, check out Astrid Lindgren's other books (like, Ronia the Robber's Daughter). Any Roald Dahl book. Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy is fantastic. And not a series, but my 9 year old fell in love with "The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate."

I'd like to add my vote for using "I" in almost all AT posts. I really get sick of the "we," especially when it's so obviously "I."

We visited Fallingwater last year, and I have to say that it's not a very family friendly place. If you're under 6 (I believe), you're not allowed on a tour through the house. Which is silly. It's a beautiful place, to be sure, but the people who work/volunteer there weren't very warm or inviting. I was generally disappointed with it.

At Anthropologie this weekend, they had a wall of the big bubble wrap, which they had cut little pockets into (into each of the bubbles) and filled with different colored liquid to make a big mosaic. How they sealed the bubbles back up (to prevent a giant liquid mess) is beyond me.

Can't say I'd recommend this idea!

I agree with Laure: the Gleaners and I is one of my all time favorites, and if I remember correctly, Varda returns to her subjects to get an update on them, and that segment of the DVD adds so much more to the whole movie. It's a must see.

Agree wholeheartedly with the restaurant scene - so much to choose from, and my favorite dessert: Brown Betty cupcakes (www.brownbettydesserts.com). And what about the cool boutiques in Old City and Northern Liberties? Art Star Craft Bazaar, Reading Terminal Market, Films at International House, Spiral Q Puppet Theatre, Smith Playground, and the park/playground at Franklin Square. C'mon, Dwell! Get with it!
