This is coming from the mom of a 6.5yo boy with a quilt on his bed with pink on it too; the room is lovely, but doesn't scream 'big boy' as much as 'big girl.' I personally love the big bright and happy colors, but the accent step stool and curtains tip the scale in the girl direction.

That is pretty awesome. I hate most character stuff but I have a soft spot for things from my own childhood!

I'm baffled that anyone would take the time to comment if they hadn't taken the time to assuage their own fears by double-checking the provided link to the full blog post project. The blogger covered all of your fears and more in her post.

I was expecting the project to be a toy box or something. I never would have guessed a swing!

I think this would also be a great option for costumes too!

Very nice! We have a playhouse in our backyard that was probably an old shed! It was super dirty inside and I pulled out the carpet and swept, swept, and swept all of the dust and mud out. And I need to make sure that all of the stray nails are gone before my 6yo son gets the all-clear to make it his outdoor fort! It was painted (years and years ago) the same color as the house and has a lovely growth of small ferns on the top.

This 'contract' has irritated me from the first time I read about it. It is self congratulatory and contradictory. And it's certainly not a gift. Gifts don't come with strings. If he didn't accept this 'gift' what would he have received in its place? What if he purchased his own phone with his own money, would she still feed the burning need to create a contract? Would she make a video of herself shooting it (a la laptop shooting dad) if he used it in a way she didn't approve of? Last but not least, as a blogger/writer, she should know that it's Googling, not googling.

I haven't seen it in bulk either (and I've checked at our local co-ops and at the Whole Foods in the nearest big city). We only use in our house for playdough!

That is a pretty sweet bookcase! And it's hard to see the prints; a close-up and information on those would be nice.

And the white on the walls showcase the vibrant colors of the decorations and items you chose for the room. I think the wood floors and trim around the windows keeps the white from being too cold looking.

I was curious about the inspiration table too but I had the opposite thought about it being more distinctively Lego table than the one featured here. The inspiration table seems to be shouting Lego to me while this one is seems more subtle.

I just came to post that I've tried it and it's super uncomfortable! I couldn't imagine using it for more than a few minutes. Interesting that the very petite posters think it's great! I'm 5'9" so that must have been a big part of it.

We were in a 600SQF one bedroom apartment when our son was born and we splurged on a black leather Dutailier glider with footrest and we had it in the 'living room' instead of our bedroom/nursery. The most expensive piece of furniture we had for years and we still love it. Someone in the family uses it every day!

Fun! I had this idea several years ago but the space that we had wasn't as high (wainscoting) and so I had it cut, which was a big problem considering the sharp edges and that it's hard to cut straight with metal snips. I love that this goes all the way to the ceiling.

@Mary B C - The sheet metal could totally be painted to match the wall!
