i dont go by any hard-fast "rule" about which pieces to invest and which to save a bit of money on... i think that you get the best bag out of your buck for lighting, because cheap lighting is cheap and possibly dangerous, or generally falls apart quickly. and i have to disagree with kayoncy, i never skimp on linens...i made the mistake of purchasing a polyester duvet cover and my skin reminded me that a quality cotton cannot be beat! yes, the brady casegoods are manufactured by MGBW and sold exclusively through Crate & Barrel: the non-tiered nightstand and wood finish are available there alone. And although I havent seen the MGBW finishes, I love the C&B one, its very rich and deep, with an almost metallic shine to it. I also think its funny that it cost more to buy directly from the manufacturer, I always thought it was supposed to save you money to cut out the middleman! i like that there is no definate footboard/headboard, and while i dont like it as a "normal" north/south bed, i think it could work great as an east/west daybed. CB2's Indie Bed |

i cant seem to find a way to purchase the jielde lamps, or build my own, on the notonqueen site...though, anthropologie (natch) sells the floor lamp and table lamp in ivory...they are lovely, and just curvy and intresting enough not to be sterile, i love them, thanks for showing all the different configurations and colors ICFF 2007: Jieldé Lighting Normann of Copenhagen |

gorgeous, and you're absolutely right about their old-but-new aesthetic, which is so much better than all of the new-but-old that is going around (i don't care how cute they are, plastic coated antique furniture in hot pink and blue is just wrong)...i also think these would be worth every effort to maintain; im more concerned about where im going to hang them... i agree that the kitchen could be tons more fun (i love the blue metal cabinets they sell), but if white is your thing, its a pretty great remodel and the cost was too good to be true, the computer probably cost more!! way to go Look!: A $1,400 Ikea Kitchen Makeover |
