There are just 2 of us now but one sink is all we want in a bathroom. We'd rather not be bumping into each other at the same time even if there were 2 sinks. I also don't get 2 sinks in a small vanity top with no room to lay down anything. We'd rather have the counter space.

Fishgirl,
My old regulator clock runs a couple of minutes slow. Is that bad feng shui? Hope not because I know from prior experience years ago, it's difficult to find someone in my area who knows how to fix the timing on regulators & expensive.

I recently read a news article that with increased pollution in the air, our homes are much dustier. Finally some vindication for my suspicion that the house gets dusty much faster than it used to...not just my imagination. At least, from now on I will use that excuse.

Peeing in the bathtub...oh my. My mate doesn't do that but I should do a survey next time we are out with a group of friends. Or maybe not...it might give the guys a new idea & their female partners would probably never forgive me for bringing it up.

Our cats loved to hide & nap under the tree.
Last year our 11 month old Samoyed would take ornaments off the tree. She went for the soft knitted ones the most. The tree isn't trimmed yet so we don't know if she has outgrown that. She does like to get attention by bringing us things like socks or even bras from our bedroom that haven't been put away so we should probably expect her to be interested in the tree decorations again.

I use vinegar in my dishwasher rinse cycle. The glasses come out clear, no cloudy residue. Vinegar may not have the same result depending on your water type.
I found out that vinegar in the washing machine rinse cycle is great for getting rid of musty odors in clothing, rugs or other washables.

The room has a very scandinavian feel to it. The rag rugs look like they were handwoven (vs factory) on a rug loom & then stitched together to make a large carpet.

I'm drooling over that gorgeous photo. It's just so green, green, green. We won't be seeing green like that for awhile here in northern Minnesota, not after 5 inches of snow Tues & 5 more yesterday on top of the foot of snow still on the ground. Sigh.

I have a couple of common, metal hangers that have been crocheted around with fabric strips. I've had them forever & have no idea how I ended up with them but clothes do stay put on them. I've thought of doing the same with scrap fabric to a few hangers but I thought I have more important projects to spend the time on.

Wrangling newspapers, magazines, etc: "Promise yourself you will deal with them later".
This made me laugh out loud. The question is how much later? More than once friends & I have laughed about our common experience of scurrying around doing a rush job of tidying up before late notice company arrives shoveling the paper & other flotsam off tops of tables/desks/counters into bags & then stashing them in the nearest closets. We all have had the odd bag too well hidden away in a hideyhole that we discover much & sometimes MUCH later & say, "What in the world is in here!".

I'm in love with Indigo Wild products. The Zum bar soaps comes in 33 scents. A couple of my favorites are Sea Salt & Sandalwood-Citrus. I like how the scents really linger in the bathroom. I haven't tried Grapefruit, Lemongrass or Lemon-Basil yet but they sound perfect for summer.
Indigo Wild also sells laundry soap, lotions, mists, diffuser oils, baby, pet products & more. The Zum Rub salves are great for dry feet & elbows.
No, I don't work for the company. I am just a huge fan.

I have the bowls, a gift, & my first thought was they did remind me of the bowls that were pretty common when I was a kid.

I don't know what I'd do without old toothbrushes for almost every cleaning job. Woven twig or wood baskets are huge dust catchers. Toothbrushes are a great help there too.

I never knew these were called winder stairs before now but we do have these type of stairs in our home with 2 narrow windows, one on west wall & one on north wall, at the corner turn area. It was a space issue but our carpenter came up with the winder stair plan and we loved how it turned out. The steps are 42" wide so we have no navigation problems. The turn area has enough room to fit a plant (a 34" Norfolk Pine) in the corner which gets plenty of light from the approx 15x33 windows.

We are doing a bathroom expansion remodel with fairly large new windows. We live in a rural area, no close neighbors, where some people never lock their doors but you can never rule out the odd lurker. I want to be able to see out the windows most of the time & not shut out the great view & the light but still have the option of some privacy when needed. I have been trying to think of some easy-to-clean, low maintainence solution so I am not keen on curtains to wash (or worse dryclean) or blinds to dust.
My idea is cafe type shutters for bottom half of the windows with translucent glass inserts to let light in instead of slats. I like the idea of soaking in the tub (windows on 2 sides of tub) at night with privacy but still being able to see the moon & stars through the top half of the windows. I may have to have these made if I can't find some readymade option. If anyone has done something like this, I'd love to hear about it.
