I don't know if the rolls are necessarily essential to the Thanksgiving feast but they are a must have for sandwiches afterward (hopefully with my mom's homemade hot German mustard). I think much of my family sees the meal as something to get through to get to the leftover sandwiches!

We used to make these at camp with peanut butter and they were delicious!

I found my kitchen hardware at Hobby Lobby on clearance and ended up only spending 40 cents per knob. I did have to drive around to a few stores to get enough of them but it was well worth it!

I also covet a nice walk-in shower like described above and a separate bathtub that is actually big enough to take a bath in.
A well designed pantry is very high on my list also.
I also admire well tended outdoor spaces - mine certainly has the potential to be nice if I had the time and motivation to dedicate to it. So I guess I covet other people's energy and dedication!

My grandparents' house always fascinated me when growing up and my parents now live there and I still love it! It is a remodeled old farmhouse so it has great sloping walls in the upstairs and some funky closets that made great play areas. I also really love the library and niches designed for some special statuary.
Some friends of my parents lived in a house that had a mother-in-law suite, which I thought was the coolest thing ever! I don't think they even used it but I was enamored.
One of my best friends had one of those bunk beds that has a larger mattress on the bottom than the top and I was pretty jealous of that (but not the fact that she had to share a room with her brother).

I use cast iron and enamaled cast iron on my glass top stove all the time and haven't had any problems so far.
And like so many others here, I despise that glass top with every fiber of my being! It heats unevenly, stains constantly and is impossible to get clean. I dream of a gas cooktop...

I have these and they are fantastic! Actually my parents stockpile them as wedding gifts, along with their measuring spoons.
@farrahlarie - yes, they are very sturdy, I don't think there is any chance they would bend
@lazy_lurker - yes, they stack neatly

Love to see great things in my state! :) This house is just amazing and incredibly inspiring. My hometown is another small town in NW OK and there is a downtown space that I've been daydreaming about redoing - great to see that someone has done it so well!

While there are many things in my house that I love, the main things I would take after making sure my cat was out are my camera & laptop and a chair that belonged to my great-great grandmother and was the chair my grandfather often sat in to read. It's not the nicest thing I own but it is definitely the most sentimental to me.

I have a similar counter in my house that I think was intended as a desk. There is only a doorway between mine and the kitchen so I use it as a bit of an extension of the kitchen - I have the microwave on the counter and the trashcan lives underneath the counter; those two things save me a ton of space in the actual kitchen area. I am going to add open shelves above the counter to help with storage of food because I don't have a real pantry.

I live in Oklahoma, where low point beer (3.2) can be sold in grocery stores, but everything else has to be purchased at a liquor store (all private I believe), which all have to close by 9 and are closed on Sundays. You get get higher point beer at liquor stores but they are not allowed to sell anything refrigerated or anything besides liquor/beer/wine.
I always suffer a brief moment of culture shock when I go to a grocery store in another state and see wine or liquor, but I'm super jealous!

I do this on my hair once or twice a week and I've noticed that it really seems to make my hair softer and easier to manage. I just keep a squirt bottle of ACV in the shower and spray down my wet hair with it and let it sit for a little while. It does leave a little bit of a vinegary scent behind, but not too bad - but I really like the smell of vinegar, so it doesn't bother me!

My 'home' food is different depending on the season also, but for fall it would be this roasted vegetable mixture that my mom makes, meatballs cooked in wine and apple crisp.

I have been working on a portrait wall for the past 6 months or so. It all started with a set of paintings my grandma picked up at a thrift shop for $1 each and gave me because I loved them.
I'd seen portrait collections done in some houses online and I loved the idea, so I decided to do it myself! I decided that I only wanted painted or drawn portraits, no photos & I want them all to be originals. I've bought a few in thrift shops and a couple on ebay and haven't spent more than $25 on any of them. Most of mine probably aren't the best paintings ever, but I don't think they're bad (and I think one of them is just amazingly beautiful). I think they bring some great character to my house (although a few friends have told me they think they're a bit creepy) and I've just had a lot of fun finding them!

My home church is Mennonite Brethren & puts one of these cookbooks together every ten years or so, and it is my favorite cookbook that I own. It's also funny to see how many variations they have to publish of each 'Mennonite food'. There might only be one recipe for chicken pot pie, but there are fifteen different zwieback and ten different veranika recipes!
