You can't run the cord down the pipes unless you want to rewire the lamp. Sure, the cord would fit down the pipe, but not the plug portion. So, you'd have to rewire the lightbulb portion. If you don't know what you're doing, this is a fire hazard being created.

Looks like a doombuggy from the haunted house ride at Disneyland. Don't like. Creepy.

My husband and I downsized this past year from a 1400 house (w/ 2-car garage) to a 375, lofted-bedroom cottage. We love the cottage much more. There was ample WASTED space in the house.

However, having lived in many small places, the level of enjoyment (for me) is directly related to how well laid-out the space is. I had a studio one time that I went a little nuts in. HORRIBLE layout.

Give me a small cottage and a big yard anyday.

I agree with the first landlord then police... but I also think you need to create a situation where you may not be the only one to blame. half the issue in experiences like this in the past that I've had is how to deal with the vindictive behavior that comes from the neighbors whom have just had the cops called on them.

So get a few other neighbors to knock on their door. That way, you're not the only one they may go after. And no flaming brown bag of poo on your doorstep, hopefully.

If they're inconsiderate enough to do this type of behavior, who knows what they'll do if you call the cops.

Just moved this past weekend from a 2-bedroom apartment to a house. Got a truck and did it ourselves.

And I am so tired it hurts to stay awake. And I have about 20 bruises all over myself.

We keep saying that the next move we will hire out. I think this time, it's true. Oh, to sleep....

Ugh, this photo reminds me of why I HATED the claw-foot tub in my old place. I swear, it was like taking a shower in a plastic bag. Plastic. All around you. Clinging. EW.

I had a bunny in an apartment. HEre are the pros and cons:

Pros:
* It's something alive, other than you, in an apartment.
* it's adorable
* they aren't very expensive to maintain
* they are fluffy and you can pet them (difficult to pet a fish)
* They can be litter-box trained, pretty easily, actually.
* they are super-adorable when they groom themselves. Like stare at them for hours adorable.
* They are quiet.

Cons:
* They often like to bite wires. Mine generally didn't, but one day our cable went out. The bunny who "never chewed wires" had chewed through the entire coaxle cable. Luckily it doesn't carry much current.
* They SHED. Like mad. ALL year long. Not only on your clothes, but EVERYWHERE. It floats in the air.
* They can smell. I used cedar chips in the litter box, but still, there's waste in there so it will smell unless you're diligent.
* They don't make any noise, which can be good (see above), but it's also sort of lonely. We now have cats and we love that they meow.
* They can bite. If you have a friendly rabbit, this will generally be rare. But it's a nip that stings when they do.
* They don't express much excitement at your existence. Cats: aloof, but they act like you're there. Dogs: Uber excited when you come home. Rabbits? No difference.
* They are kinda stupid. It's difficult to train them. Litter boxes are the exception; mine took to that pretty quickly and would get wiggly when I was holding him and he HAD to go. But other than that, he didn't do much. Wouldn't even stay in his bed if I put it on my desk.

Wish me luck; our wedding is on Saturday. We're catering it, from our "food on sticks" appetizers (fondue, chocolate fountain) to family recipes for the dinner (rouladin, spatzle, salads, rolls, pasta) to the wedding cake (100s of hand-made fondant flowers, hand-made cake-topper (2 birds sitting in a nest of vanilla beans, etc). We're hoping it all comes off well.

We have gotten a lot of comments though from our friends saying they are excited. I guess it's a little somethign different and "us" than the typical catered food. It has made the wedding feel a lot more like it is ours, rather than just another event.

Hate it! The pictures look like they're going to fall down on you... and also like they're glaring at you. Plus, it makes the ceiling feel closed-in and shorter.

Leave when it's safe. When I grew up in southern California, I experienced evacuations first-hand. You're not going to be able to fight 40 foot flames with a garden hose. I knew people who left too late, couldn't get out, and hand to stay huddled in their bathrooms, covered in water, praying to make it. Do your best to prepare hour house before the first start (clear debris, no dry weeds/timber, safe roof), but leave! Though, interesting to note, there's now some sort of foam stuff you can spray all over your house. Now that I might put on the house if I had time...

I had a roommate whose dad was an endocrinologist, and I swear he tested medication out on her. She had a whole box full of pills and was constantly jittery and on edge. She kept a plexiglas box in the refrigerator and locked her food in it with a padlock (plexiglas so she could see what she had). NO JOKE. She had her own cabinet space in the kitchen, and she took a chain and another padlock and chained her cabinets together so no one could get in her food there either. She had a boyfriend her parents didn't know about, so she constantly had us lie to them when they called and she was out.

Don't go hog-wild at any store until you're sure that you need it. I made a list of all the things I "thought" I would need when I moved in, but after unpacking, half those things were no longer needed (due to space constraints). What a hassle.

And seriously, as mentioned above, go through what you have and eliminate, especially if you have minimal storage.

Hurray! Wish you could tell more where the rivers are... but this is still super-neat. And looking at this makes me not feel so bad when someone lists something on craigslist, and I have no idea where that neighborhood is at!

PS: It's snowing (a biggie for us up here in the lowlands NW)....!

It's wonderful-- I use mine for a coat rack (coats with the little loops on the neck only). I can put SO many on there, mostly because they don't fall off easily. Great storage saver.

Just be careful of the cord. My friend, on her first time out with the bush cutter, cut through the extension cord. No electrocution, thankfully, but a lesson learned.
