I'd go for dividers and a small cabinet. I'd put towel racks or hooks for towels on the side of the cabinet by the tub. Apartment Therapy New York | NY Good Questions: How To Separate the Kitchen From the Bathroom? |

I just got caught up in other things. However, I loved watching the different mixes of styles of homeowners and designers. There were few enough designers that we got to know them and their general approach. It was fun watching the mix play out. Sometimes an expected success, an expected disaster, an unexpected success or an unexpected disaster. The only thing for sure was that the reactions were typically pretty extreme. That was not meant to be mean. I only meant that I hate doing what is expected. It's an overall personality trait. Lots of folks see it as one of my personality flaws. They may be right. However, it is one of few predicters of my choices. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Good Questions: How to Arrange the New Living Room? |

The room screams sectional to me too. Of course, in my case that is why I wouldn't do it. I'd create two parallel lines with the loveseat and sofa facing each other. Sofa under the front windows. Both sofa and loveseat starting just past the TV bench. (Allowing room to move past the loveseat to the dining area.) TV on bench between them on the wall with the TV outlet. Coffee table between tables a bit toward the TV. You may even have room for a small desk behind the loveseat to stare out the window and procrastinate doing any work! You don't say whether you need a separation for sound as well as sight. If it is just visual, why not a shelf that pivots open and closed where the supports are not related to having a "back"? Curtain panels would also work. Semi-sheer if others have need of light in the living area. If you need the sound cut off, go for your movable walls as planned or eek out more storage with sound panels on the backs of shelves that (again) pivot. (I hate missing an opportunity for more storage.) You could add some rolled out cork to the backs and use them for pinning up inspiration for your work. Rustoleum has come out with a white erase board paint. You could do all twelve months on a wall or around a few walls in the breakfast nook or something. Then just stencil in lines and letters etc... with color Sharpies. You might was to put a light seal on the letters. You could also do the lines with simple color tape too. A bit of an effort to put up and together, but it would work. You'd never lose it and have it available every year! Apartment Therapy New York | NY Good Questions: Design Friendly 12 Month Planner? |

You could put two narrow shelves back to back. You could cut out have the back and put it on the other side. You could put bracing in the corners and take out the back altogether. You can do whatever you want .... Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | How to: Make a desk for two |

How much sun does the room get and at what time of day? There is less in the winter, but it is lower and reaches more interior for part of the day depending on which direction the room's windows face. If you get little sun etc....go with something much lighter and put some mirrors and mirrored objects in the room. If you get a lot of sun in there, you can afford a medium or somewhat darker shade. There is really no color in nature that does not "go with" other colors. If you color block, you can choose any set of colors in any portion to each other. If you find a pattern you like, follow the proportion of those colors throughout the room as a whole. That's what I love about architecture and interior design etc...: no many ways to be right.
