As a Californian living in Vancouver, I long for avocados... I'm sure it's egregiously expensive to ship a box like this across the border, unfortunately :( Avocados by Mail! California Avocados Direct Delivers |

Or what about just having something of the appropriate size/weight that you could hang over the edge of the glass, not making contact with the tea but suspending the tea ball? Tea Duck! Make a Floating Tea Ball with a Dollar Store Toy |

Okay, I think I might need to modify what I just said-- I say that "I only cook vegan," because I do, and "I mostly eat vegan," which I think accounts adequately for the bi-monthly exception I make to an otherwise vegan diet. I hope I don't piss anyone off by throwing the term around too loosely myself... And maybe there are people who think you can't be, you know, vegan part of the time, because it's a lifestyle thing. But I think that part of the time counts for something because, like I said, all my cooking efforts are vegan. What Are Some Vegan One-Pot Meals My (Meat-Eating) Dad Will Like? Good Questions |

About the vegan/non vegan thing. Like Margaret I eat no dairy (or eggs); I eat only fish, and that means a small portion about every six weeks, never cooked by me. Pretty much just when I go for sushi. So, all my cooking efforts are in fact entirely vegan. I totally get how annoying it could be to have people throw the term around too loosely. I usually say that "I pretty much eat vegan," and I think it's okay.... I guess I wouldn't say I "am sort of vegan" or something like that because it seems more definitive. Gotta back up garmonbozia. I'm pretty sure "ethnic" is assuming a caucasian readership. The term is useless to me-- if it really includes all groups of people, why use it at all?-- and possibly offensive to others. Favorite Ethnic Comfort Foods: What Are Yours? |

I've definitely seen a handful of honor stands in my West Coast travels over the years, and yes, all in rural areas. Definitely more in British Columbia than the states though. (I guess those ones would be honoUr stands :) ) In Praise Of the Roadside Honor Stand |
