Make a good lamb ragu, with lots of crushed red pepper to heat it up, and garnish with some chopped mint. I often throw in a little cocoa powder into my chili or stews to deepen the flavor, so since the chocolate's already in the pasta, it'll complement the meaty flavors perfectly.

I'd love to learn how to deep fry at home, without a fryer and without covering my kitchen in grease--can such a thing be done?

Also how to properly make challah the soft, pliable way it comes in bakeries...i can do it, but it always comes out hard and loaf-like...

Really outdid myself this weekend: Sunday night dinner was roast duck with savory stewed cherries, fregola with yellow tomatoes and onion, spicy raw arugula, and a peach caramel pie for dessert. Very proud.

Made a massive Passover seder last night--melt-in-your-mouth brisket with carrots and onions, tzimmes (sweet potatoes and carrots with honey and cinnamon), dry-roasted broccoli, charoset (apples, pecans, red wine and peanut butter), and a flourless chocolate cake...but the BF stole my thunder when he made homemade salmon gefilte fish with horseradish-dill sauce. It came out so perfectly, it stole the show!

Made this last night, came out very well--I used rainbow chard (probably more than I needed to, but so pretty and delicious) and hot Italian sausage, came out great. The oregano adds a lot of depth to the flavor...

My question is what to do with black-and-white lentils? My boyfriend went on a lentil-buying blitz in an Indian grocery store about a year ago, and we've used all the lentils save for the massive bag of urad dal: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Black_gram.jpg. What can I make with these?

Knife skills, always--and I've never really learned how to make a good steak. (We were mostly fish people in my house growing up, but now I live with a meat eater). Also, maybe something on how to grill food indoors (i.e. without an actual grill?)

I saw it-it was FANTASTIC. Makes you want to run right home and cook (and start a blog).

I live on the border of Morningside Heights and Harlem in New York. Gorgeous pre-war buildings, all the perks of being near Columbia University but still amidst real New York residents who've been here forever. Across the street from me, 24-hour deli and laundromat; down the block, authentic Mexican and Chinese food; over an avenue, Dinosaur BBQ and Fairway (the greatest supermarket in NY, bar none); and up the block, Riverside Park and Grant's Tomb. Couldn't find a more gorgeous block in all of Manhattan, and for a steal of a price.

Here's the real question: let's assume you get your hands on a fabric paint that looks good and doesn't rub off on other people. How do you get it to smell good?

Boy, I sure hope this is a possibility--I can't find anyone to upholster my armchair/ottoman...this would be much, much easier.

I love the curtains hanging between the bedroom/living room--a great way to never close the French doors, but get some privacy if necessary! It looks like they're mounted on a sliding track--is that easy to do? Anybody know?

Hey, that's my desk, so I'll answer your questions (you're right, it's hard to answer this out of context). I'm not really opposed to any color (except pink!) but I'd like to stay away from staining this a wood color or going entirely black/white--I'm hoping to add a dash of color, since my walls will have to stay white (darn rental rules!)

Plenty of other furniture is going...but this is by far the most interesting piece, so hopefully it'll be a feature in either the bedroom or living room area...
