I was really taken with these when they first hit the blogosphere last year and even more excited when I discovered that the great shop that features them is right in Philly, my adopted home. I'm excited about the Philly board as well. This is my first time doing the Cure and I can definitely use some local support. I have a couple of real trouble spots like laminated orange walls in my kitchen and a faux-brick spot on my living room wall to address. bepsf has the right idea... you really never know what you have until you first clean thoroughly. After that staining or some sort of wood oil with scratch cover could go a long way to giving you something you'll love. I'd say anything goes with cushions/fabric, but I personally would go with a durable outdoor fabric. I'd like to second jfinteriors suggestion of the white Crate&Barrel pedestal. I think it works perfectly in every way. I'm all about modern, but I don't think this is the place of it. Love the place! I particularly love the treatments you used on the problem walls. I have a problem wall as well and would love more info on the IKEA panels you used. Woohoo! So glad to see something from Philly on the site! We Philly folks love AT too! Love the use of the door for hanging items. My kitchen walls are inpenetrable and I'd love to hang items on them, as storage is at a premium. I may just do my own DIY project to remedy that situation. Thanks for the inspiration. I agree with RalphEMole... Give it a really good, thoughtful cleaning and polishing. After that I bet you'll know if you want to keep it as is, or tackle the reupholstery yourself, or have a professional do the job. Cleaning and polishing a new purchase is the only way to see the real potential of a piece before making changes. Good Luck. When thinking of color combinations, I always look towards fabric designers for a quick look at how the colors will play off each other. Fabric designer Alexander Henry was the first to spring to mind. A number of his designs have this pink matched with other vibrant colors. I'm currently redoing my living room and I love the jade/coral combination, although I'm leaning more towards an orange than red in my take on this pair. My furniture is primarily neutral shades of beige to tan, but I'm including large pops of these two colors as well, including a jade accent wall and 8'X10' dark orange rug.
