One day when my little brother was about 8 years old, he decided to make himself a bowl of ramen noodles in the microwave, but he forgot to add the water. After 3 minutes in there, they started to smoke and blacken. They didn't catch on fire, but I still remember the smell that invaded the kitchen; acrid & disgusting! Even with all the windows open and the fans on it hung around for days afterward.

I spent a few years living in Irvine, and I can honestly say that it was the worst place we ever lived in. Soulless, beige, and snobby.

Beryl, try frosting the glass. I was renting an apartment that overlooked the ugliest (and busiest) alley in the world, but had great light coming through the windows. I got some temporary frosting film from Home Depot and it worked perfectly; I still had all the light I wanted, but I didn't have to see the alley to get it. It was very easy to take down when I moved, too.

Do you have so much stuff that you can't fit an ironing board in your closet? At the very least you could get away with a half-size/travel size board. There is no good substitute for an ironing board!

That thing is horrendous.

Pretty sure there have been a couple DIY tutorials on AT in the past that would work for the headboard, but you might have to compromise on the legs, unless you want to make those too.

I keep seeing advice that says to use newspaper to clean windows... doesn't this get ink on things?

It looks absolutely fabulous! The only criticism I have is that it doesn't look like anyone actually lives in your house. I'm sure that was just for the photo shoot, though. It really is gorgeous and well done, especially the kitchen.
