My children would adore this little cottage (almost as much as I would enjoy a real-size one!!) So enchanting!

Our son's room is tiny. No room for the daybed I'd hoped for. But we settled on a small sofa from ikea. Perfect for family story time and as it turns out perfect for nursing lying down(admittedly I am not very tall. 5'4" on a good day). I could curl up next to my little guy with him against the back of the sofa. It is not plush at all so no fear of squishy sides but still quite comfy. One of the smartest decisions I've made although unexpected.

A Bed in the Nursery

Our main mode of transportation is our Stokke xplory. My husband, son, and I are all quite taken with it. It served very well as a bassinet in the early months and has gotten us through everything since. We absolutely love the height - close to us, away from curious dogs and well meaning but pushy strangers. Every stroll is an adventure together. We do turn the seat around for trips to the zoo and museum, and occasionally to use as a high chair when none are available. For travel, the mothership is much too big. We use a Cybex Onyx which has been fabulous for plane trips. But if there is ever any extra room in the car, I will squeeze in the Stokke. And we do have a third stroller, I hate to admit. A cheap jogger for walks around the open space in our neighborhood. We live in Marin County (CA) and have lots of lovely trails around our home. The jogger just works better off-road. We are planning to add another little one to our family and one of my biggest anxieties is about strollers. I love that our first has had such amazing experiences in the Stokke. I want that for our second. I just don't think our first will be independent enough to do a buggy board by the time our second sweetie arrives. We are considering a bumbleride twin but really hope Stokke comes out with a double soon.

It may be a bit more modern than the Pottery Barn box but we find it very versatile. My family has this in the living room, and no one realizes it's a toy box until the children open it up. I love that it has wheels so I can move it closer to the mess if need be: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001QFZAAI

As a former early childhood educator, I'd wouldn't be worried so much that the print is scary but more overstimulating. It's a fantastic piece. If you intend your nursery to be primarily a restful place, I'd say move it to an area of the house where your little one will spend most of its waking/playing hours.

I love it when kid-related (read "fun" and whimsical") items appear throughout the house proclaiming the child's prominent place in the home. That said, I, like others, would love to see a house tour as well!

Of course, all children are different. Wait and see how your baby reacts, then make a move.

Vanessa here - one of the original guinea pigs. Hubs and I put these together and couldn't be happier with how they look in our nursery.

I am a bit on the particular side, and I actually did notice some incredibly minor flaws. Tiny bubbles in the finish in one spot, an ever so slightly smashed corner, and a bit of discoloration in a couple small areas. Still, if I had not assembled it myself, I probably never would have noticed.

The quality is great. The style is fresh and modern. And for the price, I feel like I got a steal. Now maybe I can splurge on something else! Stokke Xplory stroller? Nurseryworks rocker? Maybe just put it in the college fund.
