How about combining them with the lace coasters DIY tutorial a few posts up and make a set of lace-mirror chargers that can go under candles, dishes, and the like?

@kaitylady I have no idea where the owner of the bed got hers, but Ikea has a very similar one here: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S89849971

I love mine. And, funny enough, I'd painted mine aqua-blue last fall!

quinnley, the only one I found that I liked, after dozens of swatches, was one I found at Walmart called Pewter Essence. It's light and fresh and not murky at all! More of a clean pale gray with vague purple undertones.

This is possibly a crazy and over the top suggestion, but what about using those peel and stick vinyl floor tiles to cover the counters? As I understand it, they install and remove easily, and they come in a variety of colors and designs, as well as being pretty inexpensive. Then you could have a more neutral counter and go with pretty much any color you want.

That said, I'm pretty heavy into gray these days, so I think it would be nice to find a shade of gray that you liked, that worked with your (possibly ~new) counters, possibly something in the medium-lightish range? I would paint the full walls that color, and then do the sloped wall a shade or so lighter, in the hopes that it would make it seem airier. The cutouts I would do in the darker shade! You could do that with most any color you liked, I suppose.

I think it's actually a very charming space, and I like the character the sloped wall adds! Good luck!

I think the picture is lovely, but the too-low bed thing would drive me insane. Mine is about mid-thigh height and I still think it's a touch too close to the ground.

Oh, and as bad as Bronx is (thanks, Wentzes), there is another band person who has named his daughter "Bandit." I cringe when I imagine her as a thirty-year-old woman trying to be taken seriously with a name that literally means criminal.

Chiming in late, but I tend to agree that the ~creative spellings need to show themselves to the door. I'm not really going to jude the person who HAS the name, but I'm sure as hell going to stop and .... a little.

I have actually never met a person with my name, most likely because my parents literally made it up (Amandelin Anntoinette), and I have heard every possible butchering of it. Including one "Angela," which is...really? What? No. No sir. Still, I liked that it was unique, and that I wasn't one of the thirty Rachels or Rebeccas I've met in my life.

When it came to naming my son, I wanted him to have something that was simple, easily pronouncable, had a certain elegance, and was uncommon but not so "unique" that he'd get double takes. I went with Jude, which a lot of people imagine is inspired by a certain famous song, but which was actually inspired by my very favorite indie singer/songwriter. I've yet to meet another Jude, but no one has any problems handling his name when they meet him. Also, as far as the nickname test goes, the easiest association is "dude", which is a word I use approximately three dozen times a day, so it doesn't bother me much. For his middle name I went with Malcolm, which is a nice, solid, strong sounding name to me. And also the name of a certain captain with a fondness for snug trousers :D

When my *father*, however, went to name his most recent child (who is six months older than my son, and no, I did not start breeding before my mid-twenties), he went with Baylian. Baylian Valentine. Why would you even do that? It rhymes with alien, for the love of god.

My inspiration is...finally being permitted by my "landlord" to paint the overwhelming wood paneling in my son's room. His is the last room to be tackled, but I've apparently managed to prove with my color choices elsewhere (on drywall) that I won't go batty, because I've got the go-ahead to paint the wood now. I say "wood", but I'm pretty sure it's cheap home depot wood-grain laminate of some sort, and it's overwhelmingly dark. So that will be my first step, and I hope the rest of the room will follow; it's a very, very big room and already burdened with too much furniture (and toys, three years of toys), so it'll probably be more about purging and rethinking finishes than actually adding things.

I use all white bedding precisely because I do have a toddler who sleeps with me more nights than not. Even if he spills something, the white will clean (or bleach) back to white far better than I could clean any color or pattern!

I liked it! It's as ridiculous as the original. And I think Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is adorable, so.

Several years ago, I was at the grocery store and I saw a kid (probably 16 or 17) with at least 20 piercings on his face. He had his haired dyed several colors and spiked up and big patches of dark make-up around his eyes.

Way to make the emo kid cry, Cupajo.

I am absolutely all about the live shows. I have seen upwards of 30 in the last year and a half, and if it's a band I'm really into, then I'll drive several hours to see more than one show on each tour. I live in Florida, so most bands come to Orlando (where I live) as well as Tampa (an hour and a half away) or West Palm Beach/Boca Raton. If you really love a band, there's nothing like seeing them play live, to be honest.

I live right down the street from Celebration. It's actually a lovely little town, though their "homeowner's association" restrictions are...pretty firm. There are rules about the kinds of dogs you can have, if I recall correctly, as well as rules about the linings on all of your window treatments and the way your first floor furniture looks from the windows outside.

It's beautiful! The walk to your front door is lovely and very inviting. I also have playset envy, but my son isn't even three yet, so I'm going to have to sit here and live vicariously through yours. I particularly love that riot of yellow flowers behind your gorgeous metal bench.

I think I would mind it less if the floors didn't continue up onto the walls. Then it might actually flow instead of just assaulting the eyes.

What's missing from this shot is the swinging trapeze overhead, you know, this is just the safety net. Okay, maybe that was just in my mind.</I>

Me, too, randomname! I actually love this idea, but then, my parents were trapeze artists and we had a trapeze, complete with net, in our backyard for all of my childhood. It was a favorite place for my friends and I to lounge and read a book or something, so I would absolutely love to recreate it in my own home--if I had the space.
